Someone on another board suggested [name_u]Rafe[/name_u] and it’s thrown us a bit cause we really like it. Thoughts? Does anyone know any [name_u]Rafe[/name_u]'s in real life?
I do not know any and do not like it honestly. It sounds too much like rape and rave when I say it
I love the name [name_u]Rafe[/name_u]! It’s the name of my cousin’s son, and I think it’s a perfect balance of roguishness and class. I prefer it with the full name of [name_m]Rafferty[/name_m] or [name_m]Raphael[/name_m] however, simply because they offer an alternative to yelling [name_u]Rafe[/name_u] at the playground; in any other situation I think [name_u]Rafe[/name_u] is fine on it’s own.
This is probably an accent thing, but [name_u]Rafe[/name_u] sounds too much like “rape” for my liking.
I think it’s very handsome! However, the rape thing bothers me.
I don’t think of rape at all so how are you pronouncing it? I would say [name_m]Raffi[/name_m] but maybe that isn’t correct. I like that pronunciation and as a nick name for [name_m]Rafferty[/name_m].
It’s actually pronounced [name_u]Ray[/name_u]-f. That’s part of our concern since it could easily be confused, and I don’t love [name_m]Raffi[/name_m].
Other spellings could be Raef, Raefe or Raif.
I’ve heard it pronounced Rayf, [name_m]Raff[/name_m], and [name_m]Raffi[/name_m], but everyone I personally know that goes by [name_u]Rafe[/name_u] uses the [name_m]Raff[/name_m] pronunciation and uses it as a nn for [name_m]Raphael[/name_m]/[name_m]Rafael[/name_m]. Personally I like the [name_m]Raff[/name_m] pronunciation better, but Rayf is ok too.
