Thoughts on Rosella?

I discovered [name_f]Rosella[/name_f] a little while back and thought it was odd at first but now I really like it! It’s the Italian diminutive of [name_f]Rosa[/name_f]. It offers some nice nicknames like [name_f]Rose[/name_f], [name_f]Rosie[/name_f], [name_f]Ella[/name_f], etc. What do you think? Does it sound too made up? Is it usable? What would you pair it with and which nicknames do you like?

I am old enough to think of rubella, so I don’t find it pleasant.

I like [name_f]Rosella[/name_f], the soft s really carries it for me. [name_f]Elsie[/name_f] and [name_f]Ro[/name_f] are always cute nicknames to me.

I like the suggestion of [name_f]Rosella[/name_f] given how I love [name_f]Ella[/name_f] and [name_f]Rose[/name_f] separately, but I tend to like the name Rubella better as it flows well, never heard of it or it’s association but the name in itself is so pretty

Depending on where you’re from, Rubella is a form of measles, and I agree [name_f]Rosella[/name_f] sounds a little too much like it for my personal comfort.

Rosalie, [name_f]Rosalia[/name_f], [name_f]Rosanna[/name_f], [name_f]Rosabel[/name_f] and [name_f]Roselle[/name_f] might all be good alternatives, if you’re looking for suggestions.

Rosella is pretty! It always makes me think of the [name_f]Barbie[/name_f] movie: The Island [name_f]Princess[/name_f]. If anyone knows of this movie I imagine the scene where she remembers what her name was, because she only knew herself as ‘[name_f]Ro[/name_f]’.

I think Rubella like others I think it’s just a bit awkward and normally I am a massive fan off [name_f]Rose[/name_f] names but [name_f]Rosella[/name_f] just Isn’t my cup of tea. I prefer [name_f]Rosa[/name_f]! [name_f]Rosa[/name_f] is gorgeous :purple_heart:

Rosella is pretty.
Though I do like other [name_f]Rose[/name_f] names more… like [name_f]Rosalie[/name_f] & [name_f]Rosemary[/name_f]…

Rosalia is lovely! It looks more “complete”

I don’t think of Rubella. Maybe that is because I’m a bit younger, but that is not an association that I really have.
[name_f]Rosella[/name_f] seems like a really pretty elaboration on [name_f]Rosa[/name_f]. I like [name_m]Zell[/name_m](a) as a nickname.

It’s nice enough, but I prefer other [name_f]Rose[/name_f] variations.

It’s not my favourite [name_f]Rose[/name_f] variant but it’s nice! I know a little girl called Ellarose which is kinda funny, since it’s the reverse.

Oh I LOVE [name_f]Rosella[/name_f]! Such nostalgia, there was a computer game I played when I was little, kings quest 4, and the princesses name was [name_f]Rosella[/name_f]!!

Not a fan unfortunately. [name_f]Rose[/name_f] on its own is sparse, but gorgeous.

I’m sorry I think of Rubella and Roseola. We have an Ellarose in the family - maybe an option?
