Any thoughts on [name_f]Ruth[/name_f]?
I like simple, classic, no-frills, feminine names. I really want to like it, but am not sure I do. (We also have a good friend named [name_f]Ruth[/name_f], and I like the biblical connection.)
Worried it still sounds too old, though it was just mentioned in the blog post on “next rising stars.”
What do you think?
Not expecting, just planning!
[name_f]Ruth[/name_f] is a lovely, solid, classic name that’s super versatile with middle names and would wear well on any type of girl. I’ve known a couple girls named [name_f]Ruth[/name_f] who are in their 20s so it doesn’t seem like an old name to me at all. (Both were from religious backgrounds, if it matters). If you want something a bit spunkier, maybe you would like [name_u]Ruby[/name_u]? [name_u]Rue[/name_u] is also a more modern alternative but I don’t like how it’s a bad word, as in “rue the day”.
I adore [name_f]Ruth[/name_f]! It’s short but it sounds almost shiny, like a new penny. I love that it’s classic and has a rich cultural background. I think it wears well on every age.
I like [name_f]Ruth[/name_f] a lot but I can’t see myself using it really. I think generally if you’re not loving a name, it might be better to put it to the side for now.
I’m not a fan. The u to the th sound just isn’t pleasant to me. Reminds me of rude too.
I love it. Think it’s due a come back and I wouldn’t be surprised if it started being used more often
I like [name_f]Ruth[/name_f]. I picture a [name_f]Ruth[/name_f] being strong-willed and determined, but also very sweet. Maybe like a social work or a lawyer standing up for people’s rights.
I really like [name_f]Ruth[/name_f]! I love the way it balances a classic, simple feel with some spunk. Also, [name_f]Ruthie[/name_f] would be an adorable nickname. If [name_f]Ruth[/name_f] does not quite do it for you, I would suggest [name_f]Edith[/name_f] (potential nn [name_f]Edie[/name_f]). It has a similar feel, but the sound might be more appealing to you. Good luck!
I dont like it.
I agree it sounds old and also a bit serious / stern.
I like [name_f]Ruth[/name_f] in the middle name spot but I’m not quite sold on it as a first name yet.
I’m not a fan of [name_f]Ruth[/name_f] since it’s so close to tooth and I have seen the phrase “Toothy Ruthy” featured in children’s books.
Thanks for sharing your thoughts! It seems there are really divided opinions on [name_f]Ruth[/name_f]!
I love [name_f]Ruth[/name_f], I think it’s wearable and classic, with a simple and strong, beautiful sound. I know a twenty-something [name_f]Ruth[/name_f] who wears it well, as well as a [name_f]Ruthie[/name_f] around the same age. I think [name_f]Ruthie[/name_f] is cute too.
