Made the mistake of telling some family members about the name we’ve chosen for our future DD: [name_f]Suvi[/name_f]. In-laws and dad loves it, but mom thinks it’s too weird.
[name_m]Just[/name_m] want to check with the masses: What are your thoughts on [name_f]Suvi[/name_f] as a first name?
Super cute but not “cutesy”
Your mum will change her mind once she falls in love with her.
My mum didn’t like some of our options which was a bummer for me too. If I have another child I might tell her a false list Haha
[name_f]Suvi[/name_f] is sweet. I’ve always loved [name_f]Susie[/name_f] and [name_f]Suvi[/name_f] is like a more modern version of it! Actually, I think I’d prefer it spelt Suvie - seems more complete to me that way.
Or how about calling her [name_f]Summer[/name_f], with the nickname [name_f]Suvi[/name_f]? [name_f]Suvi[/name_f] means ‘summer’ in Finnish. Might be a way to get your mum on board if she really hates [name_f]Suvi[/name_f].
I like it! It’s pretty. I think that unless your mom has some horrible association with the name, then she’ll get over it. Both you and your partner like it, so you should go with it!
Your mom’s not having the baby, you are! While I understand that you’d want to please everyone, it’s not really possible. She’ll learn to love the name.
Now [name_f]Suvi[/name_f] does make me think of SUV but I still like it! It’s fun and quirky, something I’d definitely want my daughter to be. There’s also [name_u]Sunny[/name_u], [name_f]Soleil[/name_f] and [name_f]Sylvie[/name_f].
Oh wow, didn’t expect to see this. I had a friend named [name_f]Suvi[/name_f] back in college. And tell you what, she got a lot of compliments on her name. We never heard it before where we lived, but it was certainly a pleasant surprise.
[name_f]My[/name_f] 8 year old is called [name_f]Suvi[/name_f]. No one has heard of it before and only ever had one or two negative reactions including the sous vide thing. The good easily outweighs the bad and most importantly my daughter loves her name
[name_f]True[/name_f], there will always be someone who dislikes even the nicest name. I used to dislike [name_f]Iris[/name_f] & [name_f]Daphne[/name_f], now they’re firm favourites
