I have no prior associations with this name at all but upon research it appears to be a food thing. I think it sounds sweet and unique but I want a better idea of what it makes people think of, or if it’d be better in a middle spot.
I think it’s cool, short, snappy, stylish ‘-o’ ending. It makes me think of [name_u]Tarot[/name_u] cards, and I’m not sure of the food association, but I think it makes a decent enough name.
I also have the tarot card association, but that’s not bad! I’ve never heard this name, but I remember a few years ago seeing a baby named Tayo, and I thought it was an interesting name with a cool vibe. [name_m]Taro[/name_m] [name_u]Nyx[/name_u] and [name_u]Rhys[/name_u] [name_m]Taro[/name_m] are my favorites from your list!
Yes, [name_m]Pacific[/name_m] Islander root vegetable. AKA Kalo which is another cool name.
It does remind me more of [name_u]Tarot[/name_u] cards than the veggie though.
I’m loving the [name_u]Julian[/name_u] [name_m]Taro[/name_m] combo too. I also like [name_m]Taro[/name_m] [name_m]Jove[/name_m] from your list.
Very strong food association for me personally, but that may just be the area I live in and the company I keep. Might be a dealbreaker in some circles, but I do think it’s a lovely sounding name! [name_u]Julian[/name_u] [name_m]Taro[/name_m] is my favorite of the combos you listed
I think of the root but unless you live in an area where people drink a lot of boba tea or have a lot of asian sweets I’d say it would never come up. Either way it isn’t a bad association at all!
It reminds of the Alt-J song, which is a good association but I understand the more ambivalent associations with [name_u]Tarot[/name_u] and the vegetable too. So I have not quite made my mind up yet but I do think it is a lovely sounding name!
Oh I totally forgot they have a song called that! That’s a positive association for me too. I don’t mind the [name_u]Tarot[/name_u] association (I’m also looking at [name_f]Lilith[/name_f], [name_f]Morgana[/name_f], [name_u]October[/name_u], and [name_m]Bram[/name_m] as well, haha) but since I’m not from an area or culture in which the vegetable is known at all I wanted to get a sense of how others would feel about it.
Too food for me. It sounds lovely, but it’s a name I would give a pet. It’s like naming your son Bacon or your daughter Celery…
[name_f]Remember[/name_f], even if you don’t necessarily associate with the food/veggie, your child might while growing up. Perhaps when he’s older he may live in a community that is more [name_f]Asian[/name_f] or more involved in culinary, and that will be super embarrassing for him wherever he goes.
Yeah, this is exactly why I’m asking. Because I have no context for what that association is like, I wanted input from those who do. I wasn’t sure if it’d be more akin to naming your son Lettuce vs naming your daughter Honey.
I see. Well, it’s a cutesy name that may be appropriate for a child (like a whimsical nickname), but not really great for when he grows up.
It’s not Lettuce/Bacon bad, but not as nice as Honey/Olive/Maple either. Something along the lines of Peaches/Apple/Sugar? Like cute when young, but embarrassing when older and requires a certain tough character to not mind people commenting on it.
Perhaps you may consider it as a nickname instead rather than a legal name. [name_u]Or[/name_u] if you’re set on it, a middle is way better. At least he can drop it when he wants to.
