Thoughts on the name Carly?

[name_f]Do[/name_f] you like it? What middle names do you think would go well with it, and do you think any of the alternate spellings like [name_f]Carli[/name_f] or [name_f]Karly[/name_f] look good?

It’s not my favourite as I don’t like sound but it isn’t a bad name

I think it has a cool 70s vibe like [name_f]Carly[/name_f] [name_m]Simon[/name_m] but still holds up as modern with lots of [name_f]Kaylie[/name_f]'s/[name_f]Kylie[/name_f] type names. I think the spelling [name_f]Carly[/name_f] is definitely the coolest way.

I think it’s a very sweet name. Familiar but not overused. Like the [name_f]Carly[/name_f] spelling best.

[name_u]Forever[/name_u] a high school cheerleader in my mind.

I like [name_f]Carly[/name_f]. I really like it as a nn for [name_f]Scarlett[/name_f]. [name_m]Just[/name_m] feels more complete and less like a feminization of [name_m]Carl[/name_m].

[name_f]Carly[/name_f] is in a similar camp to names like [name_f]Kylie[/name_f] and [name_f]Kaylee[/name_f] for me. Sounds friendly and easy going, but a bit childish.

Middle name ideas:

[name_f]Carly[/name_f] [name_f]Jade[/name_f]
[name_f]Carly[/name_f] [name_f]Christine[/name_f]
[name_f]Carly[/name_f] [name_f]Lauren[/name_f]

[name_f]Carly[/name_f] [name_f]Danielle[/name_f]
[name_f]Carly[/name_f] [name_f]Sarah[/name_f]
[name_f]Carly[/name_f] [name_f]Jillian[/name_f]
[name_f]Carly[/name_f] [name_f]Violet[/name_f]
[name_f]Carly[/name_f] [name_f]Hannah[/name_f]

A bit dated to me…what about [name_u]Harley[/name_u] or [name_u]Marley[/name_u]?

It does feel dated to me, but not so much that it’s not usable. I second the suggestions of [name_u]Harley[/name_u] and [name_u]Marley[/name_u].
[name_f]Carly[/name_f] is definitely my favorite spelling, [name_f]Karly[/name_f] and [name_f]Carli[/name_f] make it look more dated than it already is.
I think it’s certainly very sweet and has a happy sound, it makes me think of the sitcom i[name_f]Carly[/name_f] which was my favorite show when I was a kid.

I maybe too young but all i can think of is icarly

[name_u]Marley[/name_u] just makes me think of [name_u]Marley[/name_u] and Me, lol. Yeah, it’s definitely strongly associated with the show, and with [name_f]Carly[/name_f] [name_m]Simon[/name_m].

For me, [name_f]Carly[/name_f] seems quite dated, 80’s, being that the only [name_f]Carly[/name_f]'s I know of myself would now be in their early-mid 30’s.

That said, [name_f]Carly[/name_f] has a nice, gentle sound and I think it a decent name option. I’m afraid I don’t feel it to be too special, rather lackluster, however, it is not at all a bad name. I think definitely stick with this spelling, as anything else puts it straight into the tryndee category, like [name_f]Kaylie[/name_f] or the like.

I really like [name_f]Carly[/name_f]! I’ve always thought it was a good standalone name but could be used as a nickname for [name_f]Caroline[/name_f] too! I vastly prefer [name_f]Carly[/name_f] to [name_f]Karly[/name_f], [name_f]Carlie[/name_f], [name_f]Carlee[/name_f], etc because they all look made-up and less classy to me.

My name is [name_f]Carli[/name_f], and I think it’s a little dull. Maybe because I’ve had it my whole life, or maybe because I was one of a few in my age-group. (I’m an 80’s baby)

However, I recently met my colleague’s toddler named [name_f]Corali[/name_f] ([name_f]Cora[/name_f]-lee), and she just so suited the name. Pretty and spunky at the same time.

Something to consider…?

[name_f]Carly[/name_f] is so very 1990’s. It belongs in that mixed bag of '90’s names that seem infantile to me: [name_f]Kaylie[/name_f]/[name_f]Kylie[/name_f]/[name_u]Kenzie[/name_u]/ [name_u]Kelsey[/name_u]/[name_u]Kennedy[/name_u]/KingsleyKassidy/[name_f]Kinley[/name_f]/[name_f]Karsyn[/name_f]/[name_f]Kaylin[/name_f]/[name_u]Kamryn[/name_u], etc., etc. and all their various and assorted misspellings.
