After struggling to agree on a boy name with my husband, he came across the name [name]Cortland[/name] and it is starting to grow on me. It is not a very popular name, which is okay with us. MN would be Jospeh.

[name]Cortland[/name] [name]Joseph[/name] sounds like a great name! unique, while not being too out there, and distinguished sounding.
I like nicknames, so I usually look at the nickname possibilities. So I like the fact that you can get the nn [name]Cory[/name], if you like.
I would use the spelling [name]Courtland[/name] instead of [name]Cortland[/name] to differentiate it from the college. It is a great name though! I knew a [name]Courtland[/name] and he went by [name]Court[/name]
I like the sound of this name a lot, as well as the possible nn [name]Cort[/name], but it sounds like a last name to me and I’m not a fan of last names as first names unless it’s a family name. That’s just me though. Like I said, it does have a nice sound. As far as the spelling goes, [name]Cortland[/name] looks better to me than [name]Courtland[/name], but I can’t really say why.
I prefer [name]Cortland[/name] over [name]Courtland[/name], to me that just looks like the words [name]Court[/name] and [name]Land[/name] mushed together, so it’s too wordy. [name]Cortland[/name] is alright, not my style, but I think it can work as a name. [name]Cort[/name] would be a fine nickname.
I really like it! I think it sounds handsome and distinguished.
I like [name]Cortland[/name] and the nn [name]Cory[/name]. I would leave it [name]CORT[/name] not [name]COURT[/name] to further differentiate it from [name]Courtney[/name]. I also just think it looks better. I do find [name]Cortland[/name] a little awkward to say, but that may just be because my name is [name]Courtney[/name] so I have to make an effort to say [name]LAND[/name] instead.
On a side note, what about the name [name]Corin[/name]? Similar sound, less like a last name, still sounds good with [name]Joseph[/name].
Wow, I grew up in a small town in Ohio called [name]Cortland[/name]! Obviously, the spelling without the “u” looks better to me.
I agree that [name]Cortland[/name] is better than [name]Courtland[/name]. I love the suggestion of [name]Cory[/name] as a nick-name. I like that a lot better than [name]Cort[/name].
I’ve met girls with this name before if that matters to you, and I’m sure that trend will grow.
I actually really like it. [name]Cortland[/name] [name]Joseph[/name] sounds good, and I like the nicknames [name]Cort[/name] and CJ.
[name]Cortland[/name] is pretty cool. It’s distinctive in a good way, and rides the line between slick and down-home. A [name]Cortland[/name] really could fit in with a wide variety of people, and his name will be memorable without striking people as odd. You really hit the sweet spot!
I agree that [name]Courtland[/name] takes it into fussy-land. No U.
I love [name]Cortland[/name] [name]Joseph[/name]! And [name]Cort[/name] is a really great nickname, I think.
I grew up in the midwest and there was actually a girl a year older than me named [name]Cortland[/name]. I haven’t heard anyone else use it since then! I wouldn’t really say is sounds feminine though. [name]Just[/name] wanted to add that in just in case it might help. Good luck!
[name]Cortland[/name] [name]Joseph[/name] is so cool!! I love the nn [name]Cort[/name].
I like it. I’ve considered adding [name]Cortland[/name] to my list. [name]Love[/name] the nickname [name]Cort[/name] and he could also go by CJ.
Omg, love. Its definitely a new favourite of mine now:)
