Thoughts on the name Freya?

We’re thinking about the names

[name]Cerys[/name] [name]Mairi[/name]
[name]Tess[/name] [name]Mairi[/name]
[name]Iris[/name] [name]Mairi[/name]

for our second daughter and I’ve had some really useful advice from other nameberry users. THANK YOU!

I think our favourite name is still [name]Cerys[/name] ("[name]Kerris[/name]") but there’s an issue with pronunciation in the US (it’s a well known name in [name]Wales[/name]).

My sister has just suggested the name [name]Freya[/name] (which I hadn’t thought of … it’s fairly popular in the UK but not so well known here I think)

So our daughter would be [name]Freya[/name] [name]Mairi[/name] Weissman (to go with sister [name]Orly[/name])

Would appreciate thoughts on the name [name]Freya[/name]. Is it a strong enough sounding name? I think I quite like it but I’ve been thinking so much about baby names that I’m beginning to second guess myself!

Thanks so much!

[name]Freya[/name] [name]Mairi[/name] Weissman is a lovely combination and it would be my first choice from the options you have stated. I think it goes well with sister [name]Orly[/name]. [name]Both[/name] are unique names but complement each other at the same time. [name]Iris[/name] [name]Mairi[/name] would have been my second fave but my only concern would be all of the ssss sounds. [name]Cerys[/name] and [name]Tess[/name] just don’t have the same spunk as [name]Orly[/name] in my opinion and they also have too many ssss’s ! [name]Freya[/name] [name]Mairi[/name] is a winner! All the best!

[name]Freya[/name] is very cute, I’ve only heard it once in [name]Canada[/name]. Go for it!

[name]Freya[/name] is such a lovely name. I wouldn’t use it myself, as it is getting quite popular here (NZ) but if you live in a place where it’s rarely heard then go for it! I think it sounds delicious with [name]Orly[/name]!

Thanks for all this help – brilliant!

Also, the double “ss” in our surname is pronounced more like a ‘z’ so there shouldn’t be a problem with too many ‘ss’ sounds in the name if we do go for [name]Iris[/name] or [name]Tess[/name].

But definitely thinking about [name]Freya[/name] now too!!

I love [name]Freya[/name]! I would be all smiles to meet a little girl named [name]Freya[/name]! Sounds fantastic with [name]Orly[/name], too.

I really like [name]Freya[/name]. It’s a name that I’ve really come around on recently. [name]Freya[/name] has a strong and spunky feel to it, while still sounding feminine which is a winning combination. I think it’s your best bet with sister [name]Orly[/name], and my second choice would be [name]Cerys[/name] though I prefer the [name]Carys[/name] spelling which would really make pronunciation easier if you are in the U.S. [name]Freya[/name] does “seem” to be wildly popular on Nameberry but I don’t think that’s the case in real life as I have never met one.

I think [name]Freya[/name] is absolutely gorgeous, and it would be on my list if it weren’t for the popularity in the UK (I am half British). I also love the name [name]Cerys[/name]. I have a friend with a baby [name]Cerys[/name], with this spelling. Great names!
