I [name_u]LOVE[/name_u] the name [name_m]Judah[/name_m]. I think it’s such a strong, masculine name and I love the meaning “praise” and the association it has to lions ([name_m]Lion[/name_m] of the tribe of [name_m]Judah[/name_m]) because I love cats lol. I love everything about the name, I just can’t help but be a little bit concerned about nicknames that it might bring. Like [name_u]Jude[/name_u] (Sorry, I really don’t like [name_u]Jude[/name_u]) or Jew or [name_m]Judas[/name_m]! Are these nicknames inevitable? Please tell me your thoughts! Thank you!
I like the name [name_m]Judah[/name_m] and I think it could work well, especially if you really love it. When I first saw it though, it reminded me of [name_m]Judas[/name_m], although I don’t think that has to be a bad thing. Good names tend to have some odd or unlikable nickname attached to it. I think you should stick with the name, however, despite that! x
I like the name [name_m]Judah[/name_m] and I don’t think you would have any issues with people calling him [name_u]Jude[/name_u] or [name_m]Judas[/name_m]. I see them each as their own individual names. And if you tell friends and family that you don’t want them calling him [name_u]Jude[/name_u] or [name_m]Judas[/name_m] you should be fine.
I think its one of those names that roll off the tongue and therefore will easily be used in full his whole life if that’s what you choose, and what he chooses as he grows up. Like [name_m]Colin[/name_m], [name_u]Evan[/name_u], [name_u]Dylan[/name_u], [name_m]Wyatt[/name_m], [name_u]Kyle[/name_u], [name_m]Harry[/name_m], [name_m]Liam[/name_m], [name_u]Aiden[/name_u], [name_u]Owen[/name_u], ect - there’s lots of 2 syllable names that are unlikely to get shortened. I think you’re pretty safe
[name_m]Judah[/name_m] is okay but not my favourite A or [name_m]AH[/name_m] ending boys name. I much prefer [name_u]Noah[/name_u], [name_u]Micah[/name_u] and [name_m]Ezra[/name_m].
I think nicknames are pretty easy to keep at bay. Most nicknames start from people hearing the parents called their children by the nickname. [name_f]My[/name_f] little cousin is called [name_m]Alexander[/name_m] and only [name_m]Alexander[/name_m] not [name_u]Alex[/name_u], [name_u]Ali[/name_u] or [name_m]Xander[/name_m]. This is because his mum has only ever wanted him to be called by his whole name. Of course some people occasional shorten it from time to time (I know I do) just so that it’s quicker to say but everyone calls him [name_m]Alexander[/name_m] almost all of the time. He also doesn’t really like being called anything other than [name_m]Alexander[/name_m] so will correct people and ask them to call him [name_m]Alexander[/name_m]. Almost everyone from where I live are called by their whole name but I guess it’s different in other places.
