Does it sound too feminine? Makes me think of names like Judy. Is it weird that it rhymes with the word dude? Is it too quirky or does it fit in with other boy names?
Not at all feminine, not weird that it rhymes with ādudeā, not very quirky these days (becoming mainstream and easily recognizable), and goes great with many other names.
Thanks for the feedback
I really like the name [name_u]Jude[/name_u], although I am a bit biased since itās one of my characters names haha. The name [name_u]Jude[/name_u] gives me the vibes of someone who is quiet but friendly, grounded, likes going to the beach, enjoys the simple things in life and is passionate about the things they love doing. It also reminds me of [name_u]Saint[/name_u] [name_u]Jude[/name_u] and the song āhey Judeā by the Beatles, which arenāt bad associations
Hey [name_u]Jude[/name_u] is a pretty good association
[name_u]Jude[/name_u] is gorgeous š«¶š»
[name_u]Jude[/name_u] feels very masculine, strong, outdoorsy and upbeat. Heās definitely not to feminine and personally I do not hear [name_f]Judy[/name_f]. I do not think itās weird that [name_u]Jude[/name_u] rhymes with dude to be honest this has never crossed my mind. Definitely not to quirky [name_u]Jude[/name_u] is very mainstream and will fit in for sure.
I adore [name_u]Jude[/name_u]. I associate jade (like the thing) and āHey Judeā (the song) with that name. Never once with [name_f]Judy[/name_f]. Itās not at all weird with the ādudeā rhyme, but I get your point. To me, [name_u]Jude[/name_u] just sounds like a kid who always helps out with the āannoying toddlerā situation wherever he is and picks you flowers on Motherās [name_u]Day[/name_u]. I also think everything is quirky nowadays, so with kids like [name_m]Forrest[/name_m] and [name_u]River[/name_u] strolling around, youāll be fine.
I love the name [name_u]Jude[/name_u]. I used it for my son and I regularly have people comment on it positively.
In terms of rhyming with ādudeā, I donāt think itās a problem. And despite its similarly to [name_f]Judy[/name_f] I find it very masculine, in part because all cultural associations are male (Jude Law; the Beatlesā song, which was for [name_u]Julian[/name_u] Lennon) and in part because of its short, strong sound.
[name_u]Jude[/name_u] is the name my partner and I plan to use for a son. Truthfully, it is definitely a gender neutral name (I had a great-aunt Jude) so if you need a name to be very gender-specific, [name_u]Jude[/name_u] is probably not it. However, it is much more popular for boys currently. Itās a very handsome name!
I love [name_u]Jude[/name_u]!
[name_u]Love[/name_u] [name_u]Jude[/name_u]! Gentle yet strong!! Iāve met two male Judes now and theyāve worn it well!!
I think [name_u]Jude[/name_u] is so handsome and strong! Iāve only met one real-life [name_u]Jude[/name_u] (a boy) but Iāve heard it on both boy and girl fictional characters, so to me it is neutral-leaning-masculine (maybe masculine-leaning-neutral).
It fits in well with other boysā names. It goes along with trendy biblical names, such as [name_u]Levi[/name_u] and [name_u]Noah[/name_u], and it shares a similar sound with Luke/Lucas. It also has the fun J at the beginning.
We actually would have used it for our third son, but a family member used it before we got to (we were waiting to use it because [name_f]Jane[/name_f] was our #1 name for a girl).
I find it comes across as very masculine and, as others said, all of the known associations are male.
Agree, Hey [name_u]Jude[/name_u] is a great song. Plus the name is lovely
I think [name_u]Jude[/name_u] is a great name! Not too feminine in my opinion.
[name_u]Jude[/name_u] sounds genderneutral to me. Itās funny that it rhymes with dude but I donāt think it is weird. [name_u]Jude[/name_u] doesnāt seem really quirky. I think it fits in with other boy names.
Jude is fabulous! It is definitely all boy to me! I know a kiddo and an adult named Jude, and it suits them both perfectly!
