What do you think of the name [name]Kaia[/name]?
[name]Do[/name] you think people will have trouble pronouncing it? Can anyone think of any way that a girl could be teased for that name in school?
We have a son named [name]Mason[/name] - do you think the two names are too different from one another to be a sibset?

I really like the sound of the name
I do work with a Maori man called this, but have always thought it has quite a feminine sound to it.
He pronounces it [name]KAY[/name]-a (so it sorta rhymes with player) but if I hadn’t heard the name before I’d probably say it KIE-a (sorta rhymes with liar), although in both cases emphasis is on first syllable with a soft ah at the end.
I think it does sound a bit more exotic than [name]Mason[/name], but not outrageously so, it could work fine as a sibset
[name]Kaia[/name]'s a beautiful name.
People shouldn’t have trouble pronouncing it, it rhymes with [name]Maia[/name] which is pretty popular. I’m not sure how [name]Kaia[/name] would get teased for her name.
[name]Mason[/name] and [name]Kaia[/name] go well together.
[name]Kaia[/name] has been a favorite name of mine for years, although I go back and forth between the spelling [name]Caia[/name] and [name]Kaia[/name].
There are going to be pronunciation troubles with almost every name. I know a [name]Kylie[/name] that’s been called [name]Kaylee[/name] multiple times; a [name]Maisie[/name] who has been called My-zee and my friend [name]Zoe[/name] has been called [name]Zo[/name] by half the substitute teachers. With the rise of [name]Kai[/name], I don’t think you’d have that much of a problem.
I don’t see any problem with teasing, and I think [name]Mason[/name] and [name]Kaia[/name]/[name]Kaia[/name] and [name]Mason[/name] is a fairly good sibset. [name]Kaia[/name] does ride on the trendy side, and so does [name]Mason[/name], so both names go surprisingly well together.
[name]Love[/name] [name]Kaia[/name]! I think [name]Mason[/name] and [name]Kaia[/name] are fine, definitely not too different. I love [name]Kaia[/name]'s meaning “pure”, and I think it’s very accessible, and I’m sure a child could be teased for just about anything these days, but I can’t think of anything teaseworthy about [name]Kaia[/name].
I really like [name]Kaia[/name], but I prefer [name]Caia[/name]. I think [name]Caia[/name] and [name]Mason[/name] are a nice sibset.
[name]Kya[/name] is another variation - a Zulu name meaning home 
[name]Love[/name] [name]Kaia[/name], but prefer it as [name]Caia[/name]. There might be a bit of pronunciation troubles in the beginning, but I’m sure family and friends will figure it out quickly. As for teasing, I can’t think of anything.
I really dislike this name. I don’t really have a reason, but I have never liked it. I actually think it is kind of hard to say.
I love it! I’d even use [name]Kai[/name] for a girl depending on the middle name (e.g., [name]Kai[/name] [name]Amara[/name])
I like it. I know one [name]Kaia[/name], she’s about a year old and very cute. A radio DJ in the area where I used to live also had a daughter named [name]Kaia[/name] and I always thought it was a cute name.
I love it! Prefer [name]Kaia[/name] than [name]Caia[/name], it’s one of few names I prefer the K version rather than the C ones. [name]Mason[/name] and [name]Kaia[/name] sounds adorable together.
We have a [name]Kaia[/name]. Occasionally someone pronounces it wrong, or spells it wrong, but it’s not a big deal. Most people seem to like it, and our daughter is happy with it, which is what matters most.
I adore the name kaia! It’s one of my favorites! I can’t imagine why the name would have any teasing potential. In fact, I’d expect her to get compliments on her name! I don’t think the names are too distant as sibset names.
Thanks everyone for the replies! baby is due in 3 weeks and kaia is definitely one of our front runners. Upon first looking at the name, how do you pronounce the name - kigh-a (rhymes with high) or kay-a (rhymes with day)? I know which I intend but want to see if it will cause a lot of confusion.
i say it as [name]Ki[/name]-a.
and as someone mentioned, it does seem similar to [name]Maya[/name], which i consider as a “trendy, desperate to find something different and exotic” type name.
there are too many great names out their that will have some weight and meaning instead of feel like a time stamp placeholder - yep she was born in 2013 - type feel.
i guess really its a name that sounds ‘empty’ to me, not so made up sounding that its not usable or acceptable in society, but just sounds like theres nothing real or meaningful behind it.

I really dislike this name also. I think it is harsh sounding with the K beginning sound and names just get ruined for me if a “celebrity” uses the name. [name]Cindy[/name] [name]Crawford[/name] has a daughter named [name]Kaia[/name] and I always thought it was pretentious.
