I love the name Kelle ([name_u]Kelly[/name_u]) for a girl and I’m naming her after a women that is I love and adore who also was my riding and horse instructor and thought up the name Kelle [name_f]Rebekah[/name_f] because I didn’t find anything else I liked as a middle name.
I like middle names that are nature and rustic related!
[name_m]Hi[/name_m] there! I think if you love it that’s all that matters but something you would need to bear in mind is be prepared to constantly correct the spelling ‘[name_u]Kelly[/name_u] [name_f]Rebecca[/name_f]’, or have people pronounce it ‘Kell’ xx
I also pronounced it as “Kell” - this reminds me of “Quel dommage” and other such [name_m]French[/name_m] exclamations. I admittedly think of [name_u]Kelly[/name_u] as a 70’s name, I think it actually was in the Top 100 in 1968. However, I like the association of kelly green and beautiful [name_f]Ireland[/name_f]. And of course it’s always wonderful to have a heartfelt reason like yours for honoring someone with a particular name.
I would choose [name_u]Kelly[/name_u] [name_f]Rebekah[/name_f] over Kelle [name_f]Rayne[/name_f] - the first looks classic, the second looks quite trendy in the sense of creative spelling. But [name_u]Rain[/name_u] is a lovely middle as is, and there are tons of other gorgeous nature-related middle names!
She would have an easier time with [name_u]Kelly[/name_u]. Also, I would go with the older traditional spelling of [name_f]Rebecca[/name_f]…as she will have fewer spelling issues to deal with in regards to her name. The spelling “[name_f]Rebecca[/name_f]” in the Bible goes back to the 4th Century A.D.; whereas, “[name_f]Rebekah[/name_f]” was first used in the Bible in the 1600s. (In the 1600s, [name_f]Rebekah[/name_f] was used in the Old Testament, while [name_f]Rebecca[/name_f] was used in the [name_m]New[/name_m] Testament.)
I pronouced it KELL when I saw the thread title, which reminded me of “kill”.
I prefer the [name_u]Kelly[/name_u] spelling…And i think it’s a nice name- if a little dated. I would pair it with something more modern in the middle.
I would use [name_u]Kelley[/name_u] or [name_u]Kelly[/name_u]. I also thought it was prn Kell. I think [name_u]Kelley[/name_u] is really cute. I like [name_f]Rebecca[/name_f]/[name_f]Rebekah[/name_f] in the middle. Suggestions:
So just clarifying, the Kelle spelling is because you’re naming her after someone? I have an Aunt Kelle, so I don’t think it’s that bad. I’m sure she’s had some people say Kell instead of [name_u]Kelly[/name_u], but I think [name_u]Kelly[/name_u] with an E is much easier for people to work out than some other spelling variations you see out there. I’ve never heard her complain about it. I think Kelle [name_f]Rebekah[/name_f] is pretty!
