I know that it’s short for a drug but I’m a big [name_f]Marvel[/name_f] fan I’ve liked the name since I was a kid so I am wondering what you guys thought of the name.
She’ll get a few marijuana jokes growing up for sure. However, I don’t feel like it’s that big of a deal. I know too many people named after alcohol to say [name_f]Mary[/name_f] [name_f]Jane[/name_f] can’t work.
I don’t associate [name_f]Mary[/name_f] [name_f]Jane[/name_f] with the drug. If anything I associate it with the shoe.
Honestly, forgetting the drugs, it’s a very boring name [name_f]IMO[/name_f]
I agree on the shoes, but I’m not a weed smoker. 
I do find it quite a sweet name, but I do think of marijuana. But maybe that says more about me, lol.

[name_m]Even[/name_m] if I put aside the fact that my mind went to drugs and eventually shoes I still don’t like it. I find the name a little bland.

I have a young cousin with the name, so I think it can be worn (she was named after MJ [name_m]Watson[/name_m]). I think it’s a really cute name, and if you want to, use it. Most names are going to have some sort of bad association so you shouldn’t let that stop you from using it.
I immediately thought of the shoe, but I do like the name, it’s very sweet.
I don’t think it’s worth using due to the association with the drug, sorry…as a teenager, she would be teased without mercy.
i think it’s a cute name. honestly as someone who grew up with a name that is slang for a drug, only one person ever mentioned it to me. not even teasing just asking if i knew that it was slang for a drug. i mean my initials are even MJ which was also mentioned to be slang for marijuana but i was never teased for it
i think if you like the name and think it’s the perfect choice for your child, then go for it
Honestly, I’d strongly avoid. The drug connotation is VERY in-your-face. I couldn’t overlook that if I heard the name. I would expect jokes like “Are her siblings [name_m]Bud[/name_m], [name_f]Salvia[/name_f], and [name_f]Indica[/name_f]?”
I don’t smoke but I am in college, so my first association was marijuana. Sorry. I also agree with the PP who said it’s kinda boring.
If it’s the two part first name you like, another name with [name_f]Mary[/name_f] that I have always liked is [name_f]Mary[/name_f] [name_f]Gwen[/name_f]. Also, [name_f]Mary[/name_f] [name_f]Alice[/name_f], [name_f]Mary[/name_f] [name_u]June[/name_u] or [name_f]Mary[/name_f] [name_u]Jean[/name_u].
If it is [name_f]Jane[/name_f] you like, perhaps consider using it as a first name. [name_f]Jane[/name_f] [name_u]Meredith[/name_u] or [name_f]Jane[/name_f] [name_f]Marielle[/name_f] make nice sounding names.
Aside that it’s commonly associated with the drug and shoes I’m not a fan
I think there are other cooler [name_f]Marvel[/name_f] / comic names, eg [name_f]Gwen[/name_f] [name_u]Stacy[/name_u]!
But if you’re set on [name_f]Mary[/name_f] [name_f]Jane[/name_f], I think it’s pretty and if it’s the ONE then use it. But you have to be OK with some silly comments too!
I like [name_f]Mary[/name_f] [name_f]Jane[/name_f] as a name, especially if she’ll go by MJ day-to-day. I don’t find the drugs reference that much of a factor, although I think it’s more of an American term than a British one so is likely to feel different over here.
If you ultimately decide not to use the name you could always try to keep the initials MJ and call her [name_f]Mary[/name_f] [name_f]Jane[/name_f] as a nickname
All of the above…marijuana, the shoes and it is boring and old-fashioned.
