Our baby girl is due this [name_m]August[/name_m]. [name_f]My[/name_f] husband has always loved the name [name_f]Meadow[/name_f], as his favorite TV show is the sopranos (name inspiration). I am a little bit more hesitant, my mother vocally has shared she does not like this name. We have a son named [name_m]Evan[/name_m], his middle name is after his fathers first name (Evan Matthew). [name_f]My[/name_f] middle name is [name_f]Karen[/name_f] (so is my mothers and grandmothers middle name), but I do not wish to pass this on to our daughter. Instead I think it would be more fitting to give her my first name as her middle (Leeann) as [name_m]Evan[/name_m] got dads first name as his middle. Other names we have discussed/considered are: [name_f]Sophia[/name_f], [name_f]Ella[/name_f] (hubby does not like matching E names) [name_f]Scarlet[/name_f], and I liked [name_m]Charlie[/name_m] (husband did not). As of right now we are leaning towards [name_f]Meadow[/name_f] [name_f]Leeann[/name_f]. I am curious to see what others think when they hear this name? TIA!
I like [name_f]Meadow[/name_f] [name_f][/name_f]- it has a warm and friendly sound and a sunny feel; unique but familiar. [name_f]Meadow[/name_f] [name_f]Leeann[/name_f] is a nice combo and flows well.
[name_f][/name_f][name_f]My[/name_f] only (small, possibly silly) doubt is that “Lee” can mean “pasture, clearing, meadow”, so I’d probably do [name_f]Meadow[/name_f] [name_f]Ann[/name_f] myself, but as I say, that’s just a me thing.
[name_f]Meadow[/name_f] [name_f]Leeann[/name_f] is so pretty! She’s bright & springtime-y, with a lovely flow. I love that her middle name would be an honor to you. There’s always the nickname options of [name_f]Mae[/name_f], Medda, [name_f]Doe[/name_f], [name_f]Maddie[/name_f], [name_f]Edda[/name_f], [name_f]Maude[/name_f], [name_m]Mo[/name_m], & so many more as well, which makes the name feel so friendly & accessible!
[name_f][/name_f]Also from your list I love the options of [name_f]Ella[/name_f] & [name_f]Scarlet[/name_f]!
I think [name_f]Meadow[/name_f] is lovely! It brings to mind beautiful nature imagery and sounds on-trend with other nature names (Sage, [name_f]Lily[/name_f], [name_f]Clementine[/name_f], [name_f]Wren[/name_f], etc.) and similar-sounding names (Marlowe and [name_f]Margot[/name_f] for example) so it feels familiar while still being distinct and having a lot of personality!
Meadow is a beautiful name! It’s gentle and familiar while still being bright and one of a kind. The combo Meadow Leann is also lovely!
I really like the name [name_f]Meadow[/name_f]. It’s lovely and immediately likeable.
[name_f][/name_f]I wouldn’t be thrown by people saying they’re not fans of it as it’s not familiar to many but won’t take much to settle in. I can see GB’s point above [name_f][/name_f]- that Meaduw Leeann’s could mean: [name_f]Meadow[/name_f] [name_f]Graceful[/name_f] [name_f]Meadow[/name_f]. In some ways [name_f]Meadow[/name_f] is already a nod to [name_f]Leeann[/name_f]. Having said that, [name_f]Meadow[/name_f] [name_f]Leeann[/name_f] is very pretty and it’s up to you how much the meaning sways you. It probably shouldn’t!
[name_f][/name_f]But it does mean you could have for eg [name_f]Sophia[/name_f] [name_f]Meadow[/name_f] [name_f][/name_f]- with [name_f]Meadow[/name_f] a nice nod to you as [name_f]Leeann[/name_f] [name_f][/name_f]- and also [name_m]Matthew[/name_m]! (I wouldn’t have [name_f]Scarlett[/name_f] [name_f]Meadow[/name_f] as means red hill etc and [name_f]Ella[/name_f] [name_f]Meadow[/name_f] doesn’t flow as well and I agree that you should avoid an E name unless your absolute fave.)
[name_f][/name_f]I don’t warm to [name_m]Charlie[/name_m] for a girl but I love [name_f]Charlotte[/name_f] [name_f][/name_f]- which means you can use nn [name_m]Charlie[/name_m] (or [name_f]Lottie[/name_f], which is the nn I would use). You could probably use [name_m]Charlie[/name_m] as a nn to [name_f]Scarlett[/name_f] too, especially [name_f]Scarlett[/name_f] [name_f]Leeann[/name_f] as you then have the “Lee” sound too. [name_f]Charlotte[/name_f] [name_f]Leeann[/name_f] would be pretty too.
[name_f][/name_f][name_f]Hope[/name_f] this helps!
[name_f]Meadow[/name_f] [name_f]Leeann[/name_f] is beautiful. I’d go for it!
I absolutely love [name_f]Meadow[/name_f]
[name_f]Meadow[/name_f] is such a sweet, joyful, bohemian name packed with springtime imagery. She’s beautiful and feels very mainstream. [name_f]Meadow[/name_f] would definitely fit in with her fellow nature name inspired classmates such as [name_f]Willow[/name_f], [name_f]Lily[/name_f] & [name_f]Ivy[/name_f]. I also think [name_f]Meadow[/name_f] [name_f]Leeann[/name_f] sounds very grounded she’s pretty. I really like it. I also think Ev@n & [name_f]Meadow[/name_f] actually work really nicely together they feel laid back and breezy very sweet pairing. Regarding your mums opinion it doesn’t really matter what your mum likes it’s you & your husband’s child so go with the name you both love. Once your mum associations [name_f]Meadow[/name_f] with her grandchild she’ll like the name.
I love Meadow, it’s so beautiful. Meadow Leeann is perfect
[name_f]Love[/name_f] [name_f]Meadow[/name_f]! [name_f][/name_f] But I would maybe go with [name_f]Leeanna[/name_f] instead of [name_f]Leeann[/name_f].
[name_f][/name_f]A few other options (traditional):
[name_f][/name_f][name_f]Jayne[/name_f]
[name_f][/name_f][name_f]Olivia[/name_f]
[name_f][/name_f][name_f]Juliette[/name_f]
[name_f][/name_f][name_f]Blair[/name_f]
[name_f][/name_f][name_f]Gloria[/name_f]
[name_f][/name_f][name_f]Heidi[/name_f]
[name_f][/name_f][name_f]Heather[/name_f]
[name_f][/name_f][name_f]Penelope[/name_f]
more uncommon:
[name_f][/name_f][name_f]Elora[/name_f]
[name_f][/name_f][name_f]Verity[/name_f]
[name_f][/name_f][name_f]Odette[/name_f]
[name_f][/name_f][name_f]Renata[/name_f]
[name_f][/name_f][name_f]Addison[/name_f]
Similar to [name_f]Leeann[/name_f]:
[name_f][/name_f][name_f]Linnea[/name_f]
[name_f][/name_f][name_f]Lucille[/name_f]
[name_f][/name_f][name_f]Lilian[/name_f]
[name_f][/name_f][name_f]Leah[/name_f]
Hopefully these help!
[name_f]Meadow[/name_f] is beautiful. [name_f]Meadow[/name_f] [name_f]Leeann[/name_f] has a lovely flow and the nickname options are great. If you both love it, you should go for it.
I adore [name_f]Meadow[/name_f]. I think both the sound of it and the imagery are just lovely. Your mom’s mind also may change once her association with the name is a grandchild instead of whatever it is now.
I love meadow! [name_f][/name_f] It feels soft and sweet. I actually feel like it’s the modern version of [name_f]Violet[/name_f], or gives me a lot of the same vibes. Naturey, sweet, understated.
[name_f][/name_f]And fwiw a lot of people who are not actively in the child rearing stage of life are not in touch with modern naming trends. And what feels strange to them actually is pretty common. I personally know a meadow, as well as echo, pepper, willow, marlow, elowyn, emerald, ocean etc. [name_m]Just[/name_m] trying to say don’t let others opinions discourage you (if meadow feels right for you)
I love that you’re considering your own name for your daughter’s middle name. The way it mirror’s your son’s middle name is really pleasing too.
[name_f][/name_f][name_f]Meadow[/name_f] is a surprising choice to follow older brother [name_m]Evan[/name_m] since they’re quite different styles. Although it’s not uncommon to like different styles, it does make it unexpected.
[name_f][/name_f]I like [name_f]Meadow[/name_f] in theory – it has a pleasant sound and evokes beautiful imagery – it’s just not the sort of name I’d like to have for myself. It won’t stick out too much among your daughter’s generation but it still quite new to usage as a name.
[name_f][/name_f]I wouldn’t commit to [name_f]Meadow[/name_f] yet in your situation. When one person has a favourite name, it can influence the naming direction early on. I think it’s important to keep your options open and finding a name where your feelings are more equally matched.
[name_f][/name_f]Best of luck with your search!
I think Meadow Leeann is lovely!
I know you said you didn’t wish to pass Karen on but could a different form of it be better to not lose the generational connection? Karey? Kara? Karlee? Karla?Just a thought.
Good luck !
[name_f]Meadow[/name_f] is beautiful! So springtimey and soft! [name_f]Meadow[/name_f] [name_f]Leeann[/name_f] is very pretty and bright, I would definitely go for it! Matches with Ev@n Matth3w too.
[name_f]My[/name_f] great niece is [name_f]Lorelei[/name_f] [name_f]Leann[/name_f] [name_f][/name_f]- so I love the middle
[name_f][/name_f]name – [name_f]Meadow[/name_f] [name_f]Leeann[/name_f] is gorgeous
[name_f]Meadow[/name_f] is pretty and sounds like a nice sister to [name_m]Evan[/name_m].
[name_f][/name_f][name_f]Meadow[/name_f] [name_f]Leeann[/name_f] is pretty but could also consider [name_f]Meadow[/name_f] [name_m]Lee[/name_m] or [name_f]Meadow[/name_f] [name_f]Ann[/name_f].
[name_f][/name_f]Literally no one (beyond a name forum) will comment or even know that [name_m]Lee[/name_m] has some connection related to [name_f]Meadow[/name_f] so don’t let that sway you.
Absolutely love [name_f]Meadow[/name_f]- it is fresh, ages well and is so likeable! Think it paired with [name_f]Leeann[/name_f] is lovely.
I like [name_f]Meadow[/name_f]. I just recently found out that the late [name_m]Paul[/name_m] [name_m]Walker[/name_m] named his daughter [name_f]Meadow[/name_f] [name_f]Rain[/name_f]. Earthy names are just super awesome IMO. And whatever if your family isn’t a fan of the name. As soon as she’s born, more often than not, the name will suite her well and it will grow on them. It’s fine that others don’t like it. If you and hubby likes it, that’s all that matters. You’re not name her something bizarre. And paired with [name_f]Leeann[/name_f], is super nice. I also think it’s neat that [name_f]Leeann[/name_f] means meadow.
