I pronounce it somewhere in between. I always say nick-oh-la. I think either way you pronounce you can use the nn [name_f]Nica[/name_f].
I say [name_u]Nick[/name_u]-oh-lah too, but I don’t see why [name_f]Nica[/name_f] couldn’t work. I know a [name_u]Nicola[/name_u] who goes by Cola, actually.
I also pronounce it as [name_u]Nick[/name_u]-oh-la and have a student with the name. She just goes by [name_u]Nicola[/name_u], no nickname, but I think [name_f]Nica[/name_f] would be a great nick name.
In English and for a girl, I say [name_u]NICK[/name_u]-uh-luh.
I think you can use [name_f]Nica[/name_f] either way.
Yeah, I’m the same. [name_u]Nick[/name_u]-oh-lah is how I say it. I still think you could use [name_f]Nica[/name_f] as nn though.
[name_f]Nica[/name_f] / [name_u]Nicola[/name_u] is a lovely name. I say it nee-ko-la, but I don’t think a lot of people would use that pronunciation.
I know two, [name_u]Nicola[/name_u] and [name_f]Nikola[/name_f]. Both pronounce it “[name_u]Nick[/name_u]-Cola”, and I think [name_f]Nica[/name_f] works fine as a nickname.
No matter how anybody pronounces it, [name_f]Nica[/name_f] is a totally appropriate (and beautiful) nickname for [name_u]Nicola[/name_u].
