WDYT? I think it’s beautiful, but I know I will need help convincing the hubby.
I love the name [name_f]Nora[/name_f], but hubby thinks it’s too plain and I don’t think [name_f]Nora[/name_f] flows well because it’s got the same emphasis on the same syllables as first name.
[name_f]Noor[/name_f] is Hindi for “light” which I think is so sweet and beautiful. Tell me your thoughts!
I think both names are very pretty but for some reason when I say them together it just sounds funny to me. It could just be that I’m not extremely used to either name…but then it could just be from lack of sleep. When I first saw it, I thought you said “Thoughts on the name [name_f]Opal[/name_f] Door” so I think my brain is playing tricks on me!
I do really like the meaning of [name_f]Noor[/name_f]. I just want to make sure I’m saying it right; is it n-OO-r or n-OAR (rhyming with door)?
The way I say it is rhymes with Door.
Thanks for that feedback…what sounds funny? I tend to like the name and don’t pay a ton of attention to the flow, so it’s good to get other perspectives of something I might not be thinking…or hearing.
I think that because when I say [name_f]Noor[/name_f] rhyming with door it reminds me of door so then I think I’m saying [name_f]Opal[/name_f] door? [name_f]Opal[/name_f] [name_f]Noor[/name_f] seems more like describing something than a name. But like I said, I’m all wacky right now due to lack of sleep, haha!
I like the names separately but not together. I am saying [name_f]Noor[/name_f] like moor (as in, moor a boat).
I think I find the names together just a bit too short for my taste.

I like the names separately but with only four letters each and both names having heavy o sounds it feels a bit off. I agree though [name_f]Opal[/name_f] [name_f]Nora[/name_f] doesn’t flow well either.
Have you considered [name_f]Opal[/name_f] [name_f]Elinor[/name_f]/[name_f]Opal[/name_f] [name_f]Eleonora[/name_f] I think the extra syllable helps with the flow and keeps the [name_f]Nora[/name_f]/[name_f]Noor[/name_f] sound that you seem to like intact.

To me they don’t flow quite right. [name_f]Opal[/name_f] needs a more common name paired with it. [name_f]Noor[/name_f] needs a longer and either a more common name, or another international name.
[name_f]Opal[/name_f] Inara is excellent. Very soft and exotic sounding.
Its a totally different style to me, I think [name_f]Norah[/name_f] [name_u]Winter[/name_u] would definitely have a wider appeal but [name_f]Norah[/name_f] is fairly common around here these days.
I like that suggestion of [name_f]Opal[/name_f] [name_f]Zahava[/name_f].
Ooo, how intriguing! I love it! I think they balance each other in a fabulous way–[name_f]Noor[/name_f] brings an striking, mysterious quality to [name_f]Opal[/name_f], and [name_f]Opal[/name_f] grounds the exoticism of [name_f]Noor[/name_f]… Wonderful!
I completely agree with what @lexiem is saying. And I think her suggestions are wonderful! I also very much prefer the spelling [name_f]Opal[/name_f] [name_f]Eleanor[/name_f] or [name_f]Opal[/name_f] [name_f]Elinore[/name_f].
Of your suggestions, [name_f]Opal[/name_f] Inara or [name_f]Opal[/name_f] [name_u]Everly[/name_u] appeal the most to me. I think both sound pretty. In my opinion, the flow of [name_f]Opal[/name_f] Bloom is equally as odd as [name_f]Opal[/name_f] [name_f]Noor[/name_f]. What do you think of [name_f]Opal[/name_f] [name_f]Emmeline[/name_f]?
I also like [name_f]Opal[/name_f] [name_f]Elinor[/name_f], [name_f]Opal[/name_f] Inara & [name_f]Opal[/name_f] [name_f]Emmeline[/name_f]. For some reason I really like the ‘Ine’ ending.
I have Afghani & Somali friends with the last name [name_f]Noor[/name_f], various spellings.
WOW! [name_f]My[/name_f] daughter is [name_f]Opal[/name_f] [name_f]Noor[/name_f]! I never in a million years thought I’d meet another one but now I see that anything is possible. So strange too that I happened upon this post, as I never visit this site but I had to register just because it seemed like such a coincidence!
But yes, obviously I love the name. 
[name_f]My[/name_f] husband and I loved [name_f]Opal[/name_f] for a first name (and she happened to be an [name_f]October[/name_f] baby so her name coincided with her birthstone) but we too were finding the middle name to be tricky. She was born in Abu Dhabi, UAE and we wanted to give her a middle name that reflected her birthplace. [name_f]Noor[/name_f] is very common in the Middle [name_f]East[/name_f] and we liked the way the names sounded together. She’ll be 4 this [name_f]October[/name_f] and I’ve yet to meet another “[name_f]Opal[/name_f]” since her birth (but am often told, “I love that name! That was the name of my great-aunt.” ) It seems like a name that could start to gain in popularity though. Our older son is [name_m]Levi[/name_m] and a few years after he was born, I started to come across a lot of Levis…
