Thoughts on the name Serenity?

We are expecting our second. Our daughter’s name is [name_f]Felicity[/name_f]. It took us a long time to find her name but once we did, we both loved it and still do!

Currently one of our top girl named is [name_f]Serenity[/name_f]. It is one of my current favorites but at the same time I wonder if it is a name I would regret… Part of me wonders if the reason we like it is it has many of the same qualities of the name felicity (same number of syllables, same general ending sound to the name, virtue name…) I am actually really annoyed by sibling names that rhyme so have never intended to do that but now I wonder if people who select rhyming names aren’t necessarily looking to have rhyming names but like the sound of one name and the other as well since they have a similar sound? I also wonder if the uniqueness of the name [name_f]Felicity[/name_f] would be diminished if we named her sister a very similar sounding name? Would appreciate your thoughts! Thank you!

Seren instead of [name_f]Serenity[/name_f] could set the two apart and step away from the serenity prayer association a bit (if that’s a concern to you).

Other names that don’t rhyme:
[name_f]Felicity[/name_f] and [name_f]Virtue[/name_f]
[name_f]Felicity[/name_f] and [name_f]Temperance[/name_f]
[name_f]Felicity[/name_f] and [name_u]Cadence[/name_u]
[name_f]Felicity[/name_f] and [name_f]Sapphire[/name_f]
[name_f]Felicity[/name_f] and [name_f]Seraphine[/name_f]
[name_f]Felicity[/name_f] and [name_f]Seraphina[/name_f]
[name_f]Felicity[/name_f] and [name_u]Starling[/name_u]
[name_f]Felicity[/name_f] and [name_u]Sterling[/name_u]
[name_f]Felicity[/name_f] and [name_f]Clementine[/name_f]
[name_f]Felicity[/name_f] and [name_f]Calliope[/name_f]
[name_f]Felicity[/name_f] and [name_u]Juniper[/name_u]

They are a little too similar for my taste. Maybe you would like [name_f]Serena[/name_f]?

I love the name [name_f]Serenity[/name_f]. Husband and I actually considered it for our current one we’re expecting. However, my heart sank when I read your other daughters name is [name_f]Felicity[/name_f]… they really are too close for comfort. Sharing the same ity ending and the same amount of syllables it just seems too much.

Ditto what @alli_elizabeth said. [name_f]Serena[/name_f] was the first name that came to mind as an alternative to [name_f]Serenity[/name_f]. I think it goes really well with [name_f]Felicity[/name_f] too.

Unfortunately, they are pretty close. I would go with [name_f]Serena[/name_f] or [name_u]Seren[/name_u], like other posters suggested. Best of luck!!

I second the suggestion of [name_f]Serena[/name_f] - or [name_f]Selena[/name_f] even. Similar meanings and vibe but different enough from [name_f]Felicity[/name_f]

Thank you all for the responses! For some reason I don’t like [name_f]Serena[/name_f] as much as serenity so at that rate i think I would just do a different name entirely. Thank you all.

For what it’s worth, [name_f]Serenity[/name_f] and [name_f]Felicity[/name_f] are matchy but not unusably so

How about using [name_f]Serenity[/name_f] as the middle name? The middle being matchy with the sister’s first name sounds super cute to me. Maybe the first name could even be more similar to [name_f]Felicity[/name_f]’s middle name.

Serenity is a beautiful name! Sweet, meaningful and unique. I do prefer [name_f]Serena[/name_f] with [name_f]Felicity[/name_f], but if you don’t care about [name_f]Serena[/name_f] ([name_u]Seren[/name_u] or [name_f]Serene[/name_f]) go with the name you love! [name_f]Serenity[/name_f] and [name_f]Felicity[/name_f] share the same ending but they will definitely work for sisters.
