Name meaning: forest, woods
Origin: Latin, comes from the word [name_f]Silva[/name_f]
i adore sylvia! honestly i prefer just sylvie as a full name, though
[name_f]Sylvia[/name_f] is lovely! I really like the v sound and the meaning.
[name_f]Sylvia[/name_f] is sleek, bright and literary - I quite like it
I really like [name_f]Sylvia[/name_f]. It’s familiar, but underused which keeps it fresh. [name_f]Sylvie[/name_f] is a sweet nickname (even though it’s not shorter) or alternative to [name_f]Sylvia[/name_f] too.
[name_u]Love[/name_u] it!
Interesting that you prefer [name_f]Sylvie[/name_f] to [name_f]Sylvia[/name_f], I heard other people saying the same too.
[name_u]Love[/name_u] it! To me it feels sleek, elegant, classical, familiar but not popular. I associate it with [name_f]Queen[/name_f] [name_f]Silvia[/name_f]. At the same time it feels whimsical, airy, sparkly, silvery and I associate it with forest fairy ballets (La Sylphide, The Sylph). I also love [name_f]Sylvana[/name_f], [name_f]Sylviana[/name_f], [name_f]Sylvaine[/name_f], [name_f]Sylva[/name_f], and masculine version [name_m]Sylvan[/name_m].
[name_f]My[/name_f] only issue with this name is a possible nn Silvi/ [name_f]Sylvie[/name_f]. It’s just very dated in my homeland (Silvi was popular in my country in the fifties, so there are a lot of 75 yo Silvi’s).
I really like it! [name_m]Even[/name_m] if I like [name_f]Sylvie[/name_f] too, I prefer [name_f]Sylvia[/name_f] because it feels younger and is less used than [name_f]Sylvie[/name_f] here.
All the Sylvies I know are in their 40s or 50s and the Sylvias I’ve encountered are probably now around 15 to 20.
Very pretty may add back to my list. I also like sylvie.
Could be cute and fresh on a little girl. I like [name_f]Sylvia[/name_f] josephine
I love it. It looks SO pretty, sounds pretty and I find it timeless. And [name_f]Sylvie[/name_f] is such a cute nickname.
