Thoughts on the name Tallara?

I heard the name tallara from somewhere and just love it plus we could nickname her lara which is beautiful aswell, what do you guys think of Tallara?

I like it! Never heard it before, but it doesn’t sound made up. Plus I like the nickname you chose! Totally useable

It’s different but definitely not too much out there! I did a quick google search and, if it was accurate, it originated from Australia and means “rain.” And I think [name_f]Lara[/name_f] would be a super cute nickname!

It’s one of those names that would warm on me!

It’s quite nice! Reminds me of [name_f]Tamara[/name_f] and [name_f]Tallulah[/name_f] rolled into one. I like the flow.

I googled it and apparently it’s a indigenous Australian name meaning rain

It’s quite intriguing. I’ve also never heard it and it is difficult to find information about it. It has never appeared on the SSA list. I like the [name_f]Lara[/name_f] nickname option. The look and sound of it seem intuitive enough that it wouldn’t be difficult pronounce. So I think it could work as a given name. It literally is kind of an “out there” (aka exceedingly unusual/unique/low usage) name, but it doesn’t look or feel like an “out there” name. That’s a rare quality.

I’m not a huge fan, only because it sounds like “ta-ra” which is a way of saying “bye” in the UK! So it would kind of be like naming your child Goodbye! But [name_f]Lara[/name_f] is pretty

If you like [name_f]Lara[/name_f], how about [name_f]Lyra[/name_f] or [name_f]Liora[/name_f]?

Tallara is a lovely name, and hits that perfect balance of being unique but also sharing enough sounds with more familiar names that it doesn’t sound too weird or strange to be a person’s name. I actually thought, without having heard it before, that Tallara sounded like an Indigenous Australian name or place name. Tallara and [name_f]Lara[/name_f] both make me picture a fun, spunky and confident girl.

Tallara has a beautiful, warm sound to it, and I like the name meaning! I’d say go for it.

Everyone, be careful about any sources saying a name is Aboriginal Australian if they cannot name the specific language. There are several different indigenous Australian languages - Australia is a huge country. However there is a grain of truth here, as there is a Diyari word, talara, which means “rain”, source here.

Tallara is very sweet!

I think Tallara is quite pretty & agree that it hits the sweet spot (in English) for a name that doesn’t sounds made-up & is easy to spell & pronounce. [name_f]Lara[/name_f] makes a very nice nicknames as well. amberdaydream, thanks for the info about Aboriginal languages & the link to the information about “talara.” I really appreciate learning about names & words & their meanings!

It reminds me of [name_f]Tamara[/name_f], so it has a familiar feel even though I’ve never heard it before. It’s not for me, but I wouldn’t question it if I met one.

I like it! I would go with Talara though.

I don’t like it. I prefer [name_f]Tallulah[/name_f].

I’m not a fan, it feels too made-up/fantasy novel for my taste

I think it’s cool, I like it! Tallara or Talara both work in my opinion. But if you use it I think you should have a story ready when people say “oh, that’s unusual, what does it mean/why did you choose that?” It’s very pretty though.

I think it’s a very pretty name.

It’s cute, but I think the nickname [name_u]Tally[/name_u] would be even cuter than [name_f]Lara[/name_f] for a nn.

I’m not sure I have the pronunciation right but the way I would say it reminds me of cholera. Again a weird association but it’s kind of putting me off the name

nicknames [name_f]Lara[/name_f] or [name_u]Tally[/name_u] as pp suggested are very cute though
