Thoughts on the name Vincent?

I’m name-crushing on it pretty hard. Any thoughts? [name]Do[/name] you know a [name]Vincent[/name]? [name]Do[/name] they manage to avoid [name]Vince[/name] and [name]Vinny[/name]?

I went to school with a [name]Vincent[/name]. He was in my grade 7 homeroom. He was picked on a lot.
There’s also a Caribbean Island called St.[name]Vincent[/name], so I have both negative and positive ideas of the name.

Personally, it’s more negative than positive.
[name]Vincent[/name] in my class was always called [name]Vincent[/name]. I don’t really encounter any “people automatically using nicknames without the person’s consent” at all.

I like it, but it makes me think of someone who is really Italian.

My main association is [name]Vincent[/name] [name]Van[/name] Gogh. Still trying to decide if it’s usual. It’s a little different from my usual fare.

I don’t mind the name itself, but I’ve never liked any [name]Vincent[/name] I’ve know (maybe 3) so I have a bad name association. The [name]Vincent[/name]'s I went to school with, were picked on. (15 years ago!)

I know and love a [name]Vincent[/name], this name is very close to my heart! They’ve never been called [name]Vince[/name] or [name]Vinny[/name] as far as I know no one has tried to call them this especially if they didn’t know them. If they did he wouldn’t hesitate to tell them that’s not his name and I highly doubt a person would continue to try and nn someone if they were asked to stop.

I think nameberries fear of unwanted nn’s being used on a person is a little unfounded, I don’t think people go around trying to nn a person or refuse to stop if the parents or the kid in question asks them to. It’s not something that would make or break a name [name]IMO[/name].

I do not know anyone with the first name [name]Vincent[/name], but I know 4 people with the last name. If you like it, use it.

[name]Vincent[/name] is one of my favorites! I actually like the nn’s [name]Vince[/name]/[name]Vin[/name] though… I think it has a certain air of charm to it, it is very handsome, and of course has lots of history! [name]Love[/name] it.
