[name]Just[/name] found out we are expecting baby #2! We have our girl’s name picked out already and I am about 99% sold on [name]Theodore[/name] for a boy. I am fond of it because it is old fashioned and classic but not a name you hear everyday, plus it has loads of great nicknames to carry him from babyhood to adulthood. My only concern is that it might sound a bit weighty. I would love to hear your impressions and thoughts on this name.
I think [name]Theodore[/name] works well at any age. I would love to see a little [name]Theodore[/name] (or [name]Teddy[/name] or [name]Theo[/name]) running around on the playground! [name]Theodore[/name] is definitely one of my favorite classics, but unfortunately it’s too close to [name]Eleanor[/name].
I absolutely [name]Love[/name] [name]Theodore[/name]! It’s actually our #1 pick if this baby is a boy as well, although my DH would prefer just [name]Theo[/name], but that’s another story! :s The only other sticking point for us with [name]Theodore[/name] is the meaning “god’s gift” or something similar. But for a religious couple I’m sure that’s fine (better than fine actually!). If [name]Henry[/name] and [name]Oliver[/name] are getting popular, I don’t see how [name]Theodore[/name] would be too heavy next to them, plus a n.n. can always be used for non official stuff.
I love this name. My 2-year-old nephew is named [name]Theodore[/name] and I think it’s a great name for a young child (and will be great for when he’s an adult too). Right now he goes by the nickname, [name]Teddy[/name], which is adorable while he’s little, and sometimes relatives will call him [name]Ted[/name]. His father calls him by his full name and it never sounds too long or weighty to me.
I know a lot of people love this name, but I’m not sold on it. I can see it on a baby, but after that it just sounds like an old man name to me. Sorry!
[name]Theodore[/name] is a great vintage name. It’s a strong distinguished name full of character. I love the great meaning “gift of God” and the wonderful nn options of [name]Theo[/name] or [name]Teddy[/name]. I think you’ve chosen well.
Thanks for the great feedback! His full name would be [name]Theodore[/name] [name]William[/name] (my father’s first name). If the baby is a girl we have picked out [name]Beatrix[/name] [name]Madeline[/name].
[name]Love[/name] love [name]LOVE[/name] this name! [name]Teddy[/name] is adorable and [name]Theo[/name] is cool. I also like [name]Beatrix[/name] [name]Madeline[/name]
I adore the name [name]Theodore[/name]! [name]Love[/name] it, love it, love it! I love the meaning, I love how it sounds, and I love the nickname. If I didn’t have a character named [name]Theodore[/name], I would deffinetly use it for when I have kids.

[name]Love[/name] [name]Theodore[/name] and the nicknames! I think it is perfect!
[name]Theodore[/name] is a great name! Good choice. I love [name]Theo[/name].
[name]Love[/name] it! It’s on our boy list for a future son, nickname [name]Theo[/name] so cute!
[name]Theodore[/name] [name]William[/name] sounds very distinguished. I love this combination.
I like [name]Theodore[/name] because of the [name]Roosevelt[/name] connection but not the Chipmunks. Here are some other similar names
Théobald
Théodoric
Théodose
Théophane*
Théophile*
*These are getting somewhat popular in [name]France[/name] right now, not sure how well they would go over in the States or on nameberry but I like them
I love [name]Theodore[/name], and I agree its nicknames are awesome. Boy or girl, you’ve picked out beautiful names.
