Thoughts on Theodosia?

I just heard this name and wondered what others might think of it. I don’t love it as a first name but I think it would make a pretty middle.

The first time I heard it was Hamilton :raising_hand_woman:t2: but I think it’s beautiful and with Theodore being so popular I feel like it’s very wearable whilst still being a bit unexpected. Plus it has great nickname potential! Theo, Thea, Dosie…

I love it! [name_f]My[/name_f] first association is also [name_m]Hamilton[/name_m], but it’s not a negative association at all!!

[name_u]Love[/name_u] how it sounds, love the nicknames, also think it’s just the right amount unexpected.

Yep, me too!

I think it’s beautiful. I’ve loved Theo as a nickname for it for years. So cute.

It’s such a fanciful, pretty, and puritanical-feeling name! Sounds quite earthy and very cozy. I think it makes for a good middle, but it’s even more of a star as a first name to me.

[name_f]Theodosia[/name_f] is so clunky-cool and interesting, full of grandeur but also fun and it has several great nicknames. It would make a good middle too!

Oh, I have an ancestor [name_f]Theodosia[/name_f]! She was called Dosie. It’s the kind of unusual name a girl could make her own. Lots of nickname options.

[name_f]My[/name_f] first association is actually the [name_f]Theodosia[/name_f] Throckmorton book series, which I loved dearly as a kid and [name_f]Theodosia[/name_f] herself is a great character. It’s a bit stuffy, but also elegant and pleasantly unusual.

I feel like this really encapsulates how I feel about the name in words better than I could write. It’s a great, fascinating name!

I think it’s a nice name that is pretty uncommon with well known nicknames.

I love it!

Another Hamilton-er here. Whenever I hear the name I’m transported back to sitting in a theater, watching [name_u]Leslie[/name_u] Odom [name_m]Jr[/name_m] singing on stage.

I think [name_f]Thea[/name_f] is cute, but [name_f]Theodosia[/name_f] seems clunky to me. And I don’t think I’d want an [name_m]Aaron[/name_m] [name_m]Burr[/name_m] connection for my daughter.

Strictly in the middle. Still a pleasing gem.

I absolutely love it, much more than Theodora! My first association is Hamilton which is positive because the song is so sweet

[name_f]Gorgeous[/name_f], I love it. It’s classic, historical and magical. Far better than all that Brextyn [name_f]Paisleigh[/name_f] sh*t you see everywhere these days.

It’s beautiful and princessy like but also very pompous. I would probably opt for [name_f]Theodora[/name_f] instead because it has the same meaning, the ending [name_f]Dora[/name_f] is more pleasing than dosia to my ear and it’s less pompous.
