What is the general consensus on these two names?
[name]Efa[/name] - prn [name]Air[/name]-va/Ay-va (Welsh)
[name]Aoife[/name] - prn Ee-fa (Irish Gaelic)
I don’t mean alternative in terms of meaning,just sound btw.
I really like [name]Efa[/name], but people might mispronounce it as [name]Aoife[/name]. I think they are both very pretty, though.
If you want the [name]Ava[/name] pronunciation in Gaelic, it’s [name]Eabha[/name]. 
The mispronouciation may definitely be an issue. Welsh and Gaelic can be so counter intuitive in terms of pronounciations!

I like [name]Efa[/name] but would not have known correct pronunciation! Have you considered [name]Ada[/name] or maybe [name]Lida[/name]/[name]Lyda[/name]?
I think that both [name]Efa[/name] and [name]Aoife[/name] are adorable.
They’re almost the exact same pronunciation as [name]Ava[/name] and [name]Eva[/name] and a lot more trouble in the spelling and pronunciation departments, at least in the US. They’re both lovely and I really do like them, but I think more trouble than they’re worth. In a sea of Avas, [name]Efa[/name] doesn’t stand out, and I’m sure a little [name]Efa[/name] would grow pretty tired of constantly explaining her name.
@daisy451 I’m in the UK,[name]Wales[/name],but I don’t think [name]Efa[/name] is very common at all. I think you may well be right about [name]Efa[/name] being a difficult name,maybe too difficult to use.
[name]Aoife[/name] is one of my absolute [name]FAVORITE[/name] names, but I have to say I think it’s spelling is a little too out there for the average English speaking community. So unless you live in [name]Ireland[/name] or in a Gaelic speaking community some where, I feel like poor, beautiful [name]Aoife[/name] has to stay in the middle 
[name]Efa[/name] is pretty as well but I prefer [name]Aoife[/name], and of course [name]Efa[/name] poses the same pronunciation problems as [name]Aoife[/name].
Are you currently expecting?? I’m asking because of time factor. [name]Ava[/name] has been popular for awhile now, it may start to decline enough that you won’t mind using it by the time you have a baby. I certainly don’t mind it’s popularity, and in fact have only ran into one other [name]Ava[/name] and heard of two others. None of those are people I associate with regularly if hardly at all. So I’ve had no issues. Perhaps the popularity issue wouldn’t be as bad as the pronunciation issues is what I’m driving at. We’ll see how bad it is when she gets to kindergarten, but I have no issues with her going by [name]Ava[/name] [name]Dulcea[/name] all the time should there be too many in the same class, and neither does she.
That being said, I love [name]Aoife[/name] a lot now that I know how to pronounce it!!! I’m also a big fan of [name]Effie[/name], but I wonder if you will. It’s close and easy to pronounce. [name]Effie[/name] is really sweet, and it’s been used in smaller roles for both Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants and The Hunger Games. Despite that it hasn’t spiked to the top of the charts.
