I never really see these names being discussed anywhere and I was just curious what impressions people had of them. Do you like them? Why or why not? What kind of vibes do they give you? I’m not considering them for myself, but just curious!
[name_f]Desiree[/name_f] - Not really fond of it. It reminds me of [name_f]Destiny[/name_f], but between these two, I’d go for [name_f]Desiree[/name_f].
[name_f]Charla[/name_f] - Sorry, not this one either.
[name_f]Justine[/name_f] - I prefer [name_u]Justice[/name_u] for the same vibe.
[name_u]Ara[/name_u] - I like it. [name_u]Ara[/name_u] is also a constellation!
[name_u]Nikita[/name_u] - I know someone with this name. I used to think this was really popular since so many people around me were named this.
[name_f]Tia[/name_f] - Again, I know many people with name and not all of them are pleasant, so I’ll stay neutral on this one.
[name_u]Leigh[/name_u] - I was never a fan of names like that.
[name_u]Ara[/name_u] & [name_u]Nikita[/name_u] are my favourites! Sorry if this came across as too critical.
[name_f]Desiree[/name_f] - okay I know it’s an old [name_u]French[/name_u] name but I can’t help but associate it in my head with the sort of [name_f]Hailee[/name_f], [name_f]Wrenlee[/name_f], [name_f]Vallee[/name_f] style of modern names which are really not my thing
[name_f]Charla[/name_f] - feels incomplete to me? Like it should be [name_f]Charlene[/name_f], [name_f]Charlotte[/name_f], [name_u]Charley[/name_u]. But I don’t dislike it.
[name_f]Justine[/name_f] - forever tainted by the mean girl in [name_u]Tracy[/name_u] Beaker.
[name_u]Ara[/name_u] - nicknamey, but I like it, seems gender neutral and like it would work pretty much anywhere.
[name_u]Nikita[/name_u] - reminds me of the film about the assassin! Like you’d have to be a real baddie to pull it off!
[name_f]Tia[/name_f] - the name of one of my closest friends so I’m biased towards this one! It feels sparky and full of attitude to me.
[name_u]Leigh[/name_u] - nice, kinda classic, maybe a bit dated?
[name_f]Desiree[/name_f] — Very bright and sparkly. Has similar vibes to [name_f]Justine[/name_f] and [name_u]Leigh[/name_u] (American, 80s) for me - as mentioned above, a little detached from its [name_u]French[/name_u] origin in feel. Not for me really, but I can enjoy it.
[name_f]Charla[/name_f] — Unsure on this, it feels like an incomplete [name_f]Charlotte[/name_f] to me.
[name_f]Justine[/name_f] — I was going to say it has some kind of inexplainable mean girl vibe, and after reading the post above I remembered why
[name_u]Ara[/name_u] — I think of parrots, which isn‘t a bad connection. Reminds me of [name_u]Asa[/name_u] and [name_u]Ari[/name_u] - I quite like it!
[name_u]Nikita[/name_u] — Not my favourite [name_u]Nik[/name_u]- / [name_u]Nic[/name_u]- name, although I can appreciate it slightly more for a boy.
[name_f]Tia[/name_f] — I think of the Spanish word for aunt, but otherwise a lovely sparky name. Great alternative to [name_f]Mia[/name_f], but I might prefer [name_f]Pia[/name_f].
[name_u]Leigh[/name_u] — I always want to say “lay“, and probably prefer [name_u]Lee[/name_u] for that reason.
[name_f]Desiree[/name_f] - it’s on my list and part of me loves it, but at the same time there’s something missing for me. I was thinking about it yesterday… is it pretty but boring? I don’t know…
[name_f]Charla[/name_f] - nickname vibes
[name_f]Justine[/name_f] - I like it, prim and proper
[name_u]Ara[/name_u] - I think of parrots I love [name_m]Aro[/name_m] tho
[name_u]Nikita[/name_u] - a nickname for a 13 yo boy who smokes behind his school, has a mullet and is bullying younger kids. I’m sooo sorry I also think of [name_u]Nikita[/name_u] Dragun and her drunk adventures.
[name_f]Tia[/name_f] - sweet. It’s usually an auntie name in my country (Tiia. Was popular 50 years ago)
[name_u]Leigh[/name_u] - it’s okey, I think of [name_u]Vivien[/name_u] [name_u]Leigh[/name_u]
[name_f]Desiree[/name_f] is one of my favorite names. [name_u]Ara[/name_u] is gorgeous too.
I love the sound of [name_f]Justine[/name_f], and it’s a family name for me, but I just think of the novel by the [name_m]Marquis[/name_m] du [name_f]Sade[/name_f] and that association is enough to put me off of the name.
I like [name_u]Nikita[/name_u], but much prefer it on a boy. I’m completely neutral on [name_f]Charla[/name_f]. [name_f]Tia[/name_f] has a lovely sound, but it’s just the spanish word for aunt to me.
[name_u]Leigh[/name_u] sounds lovely too, but I really don’t like the look of the -eigh spelling. The [name_u]Vivien[/name_u] [name_u]Leigh[/name_u] association gives it some glamour.
[name_f]Desiree[/name_f] - pretty, a little too used. 5/10
[name_f]Charla[/name_f] - deserves more love! 10/10, super pretty!!
[name_f]Justine[/name_f] - not a fan. 4/10
[name_u]Ara[/name_u] - 10/10, super beautiful!!
[name_u]Nikita[/name_u] - [name_u]Super[/name_u] close to my mom’s name, so I’m biased, but I like it a lot! 9/10.
[name_f]Tia[/name_f] - neither here nor there for my tastes, sweet nickname. 6/10
[name_u]Leigh[/name_u] - too associated with the “unique” spellings for me (ie Ashleigh). [name_f]Pretty[/name_f] sound, though. 7/10
[name_f]Desiree[/name_f] - This name is a weird guilty pleasure of mine. It gives me warm, southern mumma vibes. I really love it. (8/10)
[name_f]Charla[/name_f] - This clunks so bad to me and looks unfinished. It really is not my cup of tea. (2/10)
[name_f]Justine[/name_f] - This feels like peak 90’s to me (and I had one in my primary school class to prove it haha). It has always felt a bit harsh to me, even though I tend to like -tine endings. (5/10)
[name_u]Ara[/name_u] - Short, sweet, simple. It feels a little incomplete to me, like it should have been [name_u]Aria[/name_u] or similar, but there was a typo. (3/10)
[name_u]Nikita[/name_u] - This gives big edgey, sassy, spunky vibes. It always sounds sci-fi chic to me (even though I know someone with this name). Not my thing, but it is cool. (7/10)
[name_f]Tia[/name_f] - I get warm, familial, lovey vibes grom this one because it means “aunty” in Spanish. (8/10)
[name_u]Leigh[/name_u] - This one always feels like “filler” to me. I see so many names with a variation tacked on to make a double-barrel name or thrown in as an extra middle. I don’t hate how it sounds, but it is soooo overused. (4/10)
[name_f]Desiree[/name_f] - A bit bit much for me personally, I’m generally not a fan of virtue-type names like this, though to be fair this could be partially influenced by stereotypes associated with them, even if I don’t agree with those stereotypes
[name_f]Charla[/name_f] - Does feel a bit dated to me but I honestly don’t mind it, it’s kind of nice-sounding
[name_f]Justine[/name_f] - It’s kind of pretty but doesn’t excite me a lot, the main thing I notice about it is that it’s a feminization of [name_m]Justin[/name_m]
[name_u]Ara[/name_u] - I’m not entirely sure how to pronounce this but either way I’m not a huge fan, I’m just not big on this type of style
[name_u]Nikita[/name_u] - I like it, it sounds pretty and elegant and has a very international feel (though I’m not sure of it’s exact origins)
[name_f]Tia[/name_f] - I don’t really like it, kinda just blends in with all the other -ia names
[name_u]Leigh[/name_u] - I know this one has kind of a bad rep because of a lot of “creative” spellings ending in -leigh, but just on its own I think it’s pretty and understated
