I never really see these names being discussed anywhere and I was just curious what impressions people had of them. [name_f]Do[/name_f] you like them? Why or why not? What kind of vibes do they give you? I’m not considering them for myself, but just curious!
[name_f]Leslie[/name_f] is my actual birthname, and while it’s true that you don’t hear it anymore – they used to be Lindsay/Lindsey, now I don’t know – that’s not a bad thing. I never liked my name. There are no nicknames for it & it’s difficult to say in Europe (except the [name_m]French[/name_m] never had an issue).
I think [name_f]Brielle[/name_f] and [name_m]Jody[/name_m] are dated, [name_m]Jody[/name_m] especially.
[name_f]Kay[/name_f] is ready for a comeback. Katharine/Katherine nicknamed [name_f]Kay[/name_f] is fantastic because there are so many options. [name_f]Kay[/name_f] is simple and elegant, but she’s also warm and friendly.
[name_f]Leslie[/name_f] - kind of boring, and I don’t like the nickname [name_f]Les[/name_f].
[name_f]Brielle[/name_f] - I love [name_f]Brielle[/name_f]! I would use it!
[name_f]Jodi[/name_f], etc - very dated, and I have a bad personal association, so nope.
[name_f]Kay[/name_f] - not my style, I guess.
[name_f]Tanis[/name_f] - It’s okay. I don’t really like or dislike it.
[name_f]Leslie[/name_f] → prefer on a boy. I’d be surprised to meet a child with this name.
[name_f]Brielle[/name_f] → perfectly servicable. No strong feelings either way, but feels very 2010s.
[name_f]Jodi[/name_f] / [name_f]Jodie[/name_f] / [name_m]Jody[/name_m] / etc. → another I actually prefer on a boy. The sounds are actually quite cute, and I think it would be more popular if it wasn’t so well used in the past. Sort of a Josie-Sadie mashup.
[name_f]Kay[/name_f] → I really love the sound of this, but maybe lacks a little substance? Also very coastal grandma!
[name_f]Tanis[/name_f] → This is cool, and I don’t think I’ve ever heard it before! Reminds me of [name_f]Tanith[/name_f], which I really like. Feels like an unusual, yet very approachable choice.
[name_f]My[/name_f] favourites are [name_f]Jodie[/name_f] and [name_f]Kay[/name_f]! I actually think [name_f]Jodie[/name_f] (this spelling) is super sweet, she has a similar feel to [name_f]Josie[/name_f] but a bit more retro and rugged feeling. Very girl-next-door vibes, in a good way. I prefer for a girl but it’s nice on a boy as well.
[name_f]Kay[/name_f] is wonderful also! I get kind of a 1950s, vintage, spunky feel from her, and would totally use her as a nickname for [name_f]Katherine[/name_f]!
[name_f]Leslie[/name_f]: [name_f]Pretty[/name_f] dated. I’d be surprised to hear it as a first name for a child, but I can easily see it as a middle name.
[name_f]Brielle[/name_f]: I know one! She’s around 12. Not my style, but a pretty name.
[name_m]Jody[/name_m]: Quite dated.
[name_f]Kay[/name_f]: Dated, but definitely potential as a cute nickname.
[name_f]Tanis[/name_f]: [name_f]Fantasy[/name_f] novel vibes. I could see it on a boy too, maybe because of the similarity to [name_m]Tanner[/name_m]?
[name_f]Leslie[/name_f]- even though it’s classed as retro or older I really really like it, it’s sweet to me [name_f]Brielle[/name_f]- I like it but only a little bit, I think it doesn’t sound right when I say it for some reason but that’s just me [name_m]Jody[/name_m]- I don’t like it to be honest, I just think of actors and I don’t particularly find the sound pleasing but it’s okay if other people like it [name_f]Kay[/name_f]- I find this a bit older and dated, I know of a few people with this name where I’m from and I associate it with adults- it’s just me though [name_f]Tanis[/name_f]- I’ve never heard of this before actually, sounds like the word ‘Tennis’ but it would be sweet
[name_f]Leslie[/name_f] → a bit ‘mum-name’ but there’s something pleasingly earthy and warm about it. Still, I like it more as a masc name?
[name_f]Brielle[/name_f] → kind of sweet with a bit of sparkle
[name_f]Jodi[/name_f] / [name_f]Jodie[/name_f] / [name_m]Jody[/name_m] → I like the sort of playful, sporty vibe it gives, but how it could be warm and sweet too
[name_f]Kay[/name_f] - I like the [name_f]Kaye[/name_f] spelling better, but it does have a solid yet gentle feeling
[name_f]Tanis[/name_f] → ooh this is interesting! I’ve never heard of it but I like the distinctive sound
