I am creating a [name_m]Web[/name_m] series, and the 5 main characters are named [name_u]Andy[/name_u], [name_f]Aaliyah[/name_f], [name_f]Erin[/name_f], [name_u]Jaidyn[/name_u], and [name_f]Solange[/name_f]. However, I am concerned that this lineup is too odd.
I don’t think it’s odd (unless they are siblings!), but I feel like [name_u]Andy[/name_u], [name_u]Jaidyn[/name_u] and [name_f]Aaliyah[/name_f] are too alike for a small group of characters. Personally I would replace [name_u]Andy[/name_u] with a name that does not have a “dy” or/and does not start with “A”
Good luck with your series!
Excellent advice!
For real life siblings/characters, it wouldn’t matter too much because the name bearers are tangible. However, when people are consuming your [name_m]Web[/name_m] series, they may have a bit of a hard time separating some of the characters. Think about major book series – the main characters have distinct names (not too sure about [name_m]Web[/name_m] series sorry). [name_u]An[/name_u] example that springs to mind is [name_u]Harry[/name_u] [name_m]Potter[/name_m]. Main characters:
[name_m]Ron[/name_m], [name_f]Hermione[/name_f], [name_u]Harry[/name_u], [name_m]Draco[/name_m], [name_f]Luna[/name_f], Snape, etc.
All very different styles! So I wouldn’t say the issue with the lineup is that they’re too odd, but that those three names that JosephineMaree mentioned are too similar.
Some potential new names for [name_u]Andy[/name_u] that are the same style: [name_u]Danny[/name_u], [name_u]Ricky[/name_u], [name_u]Freddy[/name_u], [name_m]Gregory[/name_m]. I think even spelling it [name_f]Andi[/name_f] or [name_f]Andie[/name_f] would help (since the lineup has so many names with ‘y’ in it)
Good luck! Obviously not a massive deal if you can’t/don’t change the names. It’s not like you have an [name_u]Aiden[/name_u] and a [name_u]Jaiden[/name_u]
