I recently met a little 2-year-old girl named Vaela, pronounced like vay-luh. What do you think?

It’s interesting! I reminds me of an off the beaten path version of [name_f]Kayla[/name_f]. More fantasy/whimsical but same sounds. I like it but don’t love it!

Sounds like a cross between [name_u]Val[/name_u] and [name_f]Layla[/name_f], and I don’t really like either name :persevere:. I don’t really like how it looks, and usually I like -ae- and -la. I think the V ruins it. I’m not huge on V names.

Vaela has a heavy sound. It reminds me of [name_f]Vada[/name_f], [name_f]Vera[/name_f] and [name_u]Vega[/name_u], especially [name_u]Vega[/name_u].

I actually love it! It reminds me of the island [name_f]Vaila[/name_f] in the UK (which I would assume is pronounced the same!). Also V names always seem very sophisticated to me!

I think Vaela is beautiful. Think I prefer Vayla.
As I might say vae-ela

It does sound quite made up like [name_f]Skyla[/name_f]. But made up or not it’s lovely.

And I adore [name_f]Vada[/name_f].

Thank you all so much for your feedback! I think it’s quite whimsical and pretty as well and it’s really grown on me.

@futuremama @almostactually I definitely agree that the spelling isn’t something I love. I do prefer it to Vayla or [name_f]Vala[/name_f] though.

@LK86 ooh [name_f]Vaila[/name_f] is such a pretty spelling! Great alternative to the -ae.

Normally it wouldn’t personally be my style but this family is just offbeat and unique enough for it to work. I quite like it! They also like [name_f]Kaia[/name_f] for a girl.
