Thoughts on two names

Our second little one is due in only 3 weeks, but my husband and I can’t decide between two names. We like both and are keeping them secret from our parents at this point as some family members will surely give strong opinions from the peanut gallery. Our families are both very small and family names have already been exhausted in my generation.

Right now, were torn between:
[name_f]Beatrix[/name_f] (no nickname unless one just comes to her over time)
[name_f]Elizabeth[/name_f] with nickname [name_f]Libby[/name_f] (no wiggle room on nicknames, only one we agreed on).

She’d be the little sister to [name_f]Eleanor[/name_f] who goes by [name_f]Ellie[/name_f].

Thanks for any thoughts.

Definitely [name_f]Beatrix[/name_f]! [name_f]Elizabeth[/name_f] and [name_f]Eleanor[/name_f] are too close for me despite nn [name_f]Libby[/name_f]. [name_f]Beatrix[/name_f] and [name_f]Eleanor[/name_f] are so cute for sisters.

[name_f]Beatrix[/name_f] for me too as [name_f]Elizabeth[/name_f] and [name_f]Eleanor[/name_f] are too close me for sister. I slightly perfer [name_f]Beatrice[/name_f] with [name_f]Eleanor[/name_f] by the way, I think those names have great symmetry. But [name_f]Eleanor[/name_f] and [name_f]Beatrix[/name_f] are great together too!

Another vote for [name_f]Beatrix[/name_f]. [name_f]Eleanor[/name_f] and [name_f]Elizabeth[/name_f] are way too close.

[name_f]Beatrix[/name_f] for sure! I do feel like [name_f]Ellie[/name_f] is a bit more “mainstream” than [name_f]Beatrix[/name_f], but the name is too cute and spunky to pass up in my opinion.
[name_f]Eleanor[/name_f] and [name_f]Beatrix[/name_f] is a beautiful sibset!

Definitely [name_f]Beatrix[/name_f]. Great name and so cute with [name_f]Eleanor[/name_f]. Good luck.

[name_m]Hi[/name_m] there.

I love [name_f]Eleanor[/name_f]! Great job there.

[name_f]Beatrix[/name_f] is definitely my favorite for #2. It has old fashioned charm & spunk. It’s obviously feminine, but not overly frilly. It’s super uncommon, yet simple & recognizable. [name_f]Elizabeth[/name_f] is a lovely name, but it’s not as exciting. I also find it a tad close to [name_f]Eleanor[/name_f], being as they both could lead to the nn [name_f]Ellie[/name_f].

[name_f]Hope[/name_f] this helps.

I absolutely love [name_f]Libby[/name_f], but I’m not a fan of [name_f]Elizabeth[/name_f]. It’s far too popular for my liking. [name_f]Beatrix[/name_f] is amazing - I love the nickname [name_f]Bea[/name_f] for it.

[name_f]Beatrix[/name_f] all the way, especially with big sister [name_f]Eleanor[/name_f]

[name_f]Eleanor[/name_f] and [name_f]Beatrix[/name_f] are AMAZING together!

[name_f]Beatrix[/name_f] for me as well! It is so spunky and stands out. [name_f]Eleanor[/name_f] and [name_f]Beatrix[/name_f] work so well together.

I agree, [name_f]Beatrix[/name_f] is the way to go. I love [name_f]Elizabeth[/name_f], but it’s too close to [name_f]Eleanor[/name_f].

[name_f]Beatrix[/name_f]
One because I love it
I also love [name_f]Elizabeth[/name_f] … But you already have an [name_f]Ellie[/name_f] and people will drive you up a way trying to call the new baby [name_f]Lizzy[/name_f] and … You may find that two names so close is stressful.
[name_f]Beatrix[/name_f] is fun and completely different and has a perfect meaning.
[name_f]Eleanor[/name_f] & [name_f]Beatrix[/name_f] to together lovely also!

You like both names.
So use both. [name_f]Beatrix[/name_f] [name_f]Elizabeth[/name_f] or [name_f]Elizabeth[/name_f] [name_f]Beatrix[/name_f].
NN for [name_f]Beatrix[/name_f] [name_f]Trixie[/name_f]

Definitely [name_f]Beatrix[/name_f]!

[name_f]Elizabeth[/name_f] and [name_f]Eleanor[/name_f] are a bit too [name_f]Jane[/name_f] [name_u]Austen[/name_u], not too much much too similar, even with the nn [name_f]Libby[/name_f].

Best of luck!

[name_f]Beatrix[/name_f] would go beautifully with [name_f]Eleanor[/name_f]!

[name_f]Susan[/name_f]

[name_f]Ellie[/name_f] and [name_f]Elizabeth[/name_f] might be too similar, however I prefer the name [name_f]Elizabeth[/name_f] to [name_f]Beatrix[/name_f]. [name_f]Elizabeth[/name_f] might make a good middle name for [name_f]Beatrix[/name_f].

Definitely [name_f]Beatrix[/name_f]! [name_f]Eleanor[/name_f] and [name_f]Elizabeth[/name_f] are too similar, in my opinion, but [name_f]Beatrix[/name_f] and [name_f]Eleanor[/name_f] is a beautiful pairing! You could use [name_f]Elizabeth[/name_f] as the middle name and still use the nickname [name_f]Libby[/name_f] - [name_f]Beatrix[/name_f] [name_f]Elizabeth[/name_f] nn [name_f]Libby[/name_f] is adorable, and a great sibling name for [name_f]Eleanor[/name_f]!

Another vote for [name_f]Beatrix[/name_f]! I do like [name_f]Elizabeth[/name_f] too but agree that it’s too similar to [name_f]Eleanor[/name_f] with the el beginning. I have a [name_f]Beatrix[/name_f] and we call her [name_f]Bea[/name_f], BB, or by her full name.

Well, despite the apparently reigning opinion, I have an [name_f]Elizabeth[/name_f] and an [name_f]Eleanor[/name_f], and we call them [name_f]Libby[/name_f] and [name_f]Nora[/name_f].

No confusion at all. [name_f]Eleanor[/name_f] begins with a strong “[name_f]EL[/name_f]-uh” sound and [name_f]Elizabeth[/name_f] with an “Uh-liz” sound, so I think that makes them distinctive. (I wouldn’t have used [name_f]Eleanor[/name_f] and [name_f]Eliana[/name_f], two strong [name_f]ELs[/name_f]).

We’ve rarely met another little [name_f]Elizabeth[/name_f], and have never met another little [name_f]Libby[/name_f]. We often meet little Eleanors and Noras. [name_f]Beatrice[/name_f]/[name_f]Bea[/name_f] is also pretty common where I live, as is the nickname [name_f]Ellie[/name_f]. You already have one child – how often do you hear [name_f]Elizabeth[/name_f], [name_f]Libby[/name_f], [name_f]Beatrix[/name_f], [name_f]Beatrice[/name_f], [name_f]Trixie[/name_f], or [name_f]Bea[/name_f] when you’re at kid-centered places?

All this said, I love [name_f]Beatrix[/name_f] as well, and think it sounds great with [name_f]Eleanor[/name_f]!

The one thing I think you should consider, though, is that you call [name_f]Eleanor[/name_f] by the nickname [name_f]Ellie[/name_f], so you’re probably going to want to call [name_f]Beatrix[/name_f] by a nickname as well. [name_f]Do[/name_f] you like [name_f]Bea[/name_f] or [name_f]Trixie[/name_f]?
