I am loving the feedback on this board:) So many helpful and thoughtful responses–thank you!
My husband mentioned he likes the name [name_m]Weston[/name_m]/[name_m]Westin[/name_m]/[name_m]Westyn[/name_m]–which I think is cute for the nn Westie or [name_u]West[/name_u]. But I have a 3 year old named [name_u]Hudson[/name_u]. Are they just too close to work? I mean, I know I will be saying their names together all the time “[name_u]Hudson[/name_u] and [name_m]Westyn[/name_m]…” but I know other people/teachers won’t be.
A few responses have me worried about the name [name_m]Hayes[/name_m]-- that people will think it is [name_m]Haze[/name_m] when he tells them his name. Thoughts on this??
[name_m]Griffin[/name_m] still seems to be pretty solid.
[name_u]Hudson[/name_u] and [name_m]Weston[/name_m] sound fine together, as n try not to let my love of [name_m]Weston[/name_m] influence this response hehe. Objectively, if it doesn’t bother you, and you still love both names, they do not seem too matcha at all in my opinion. Then by all means, use [name_m]Weston[/name_m] if you love it.
[name_m]Weston[/name_m] [name_m]Hayes[/name_m] is awesome, and [name_m]Hayes[/name_m] happens to be another one of my favorites. never thought of haze…
I wouldn’t spell it with a y, just the ON for [name_m]Weston[/name_m].
Hudson and Weston sound fine together! I love Weston, and Wesley for that matter. I didn’t think of Haze, but if that concerns you, it would work well in the middle spot. Weston Hayes sounds great! Griffin is a great name too, but I like Weston better.
If you do pick Weston, please spell it with an -on. To me, the -yn is very feminine.
I like [name_m]Weston[/name_m]! I’m not a huge fan of the 2-syllable, -n ending pattern with [name_u]Hudson[/name_u], but it’s not that bad. Plus, [name_m]Griffin[/name_m] is also 2 syllables and ends in n and [name_m]Hayes[/name_m] has the same first letter as [name_u]Hudson[/name_u], so [name_m]Weston[/name_m] isn’t any closer than the other two. If you’re that concerned, [name_m]Wesley[/name_m] or [name_m]Westley[/name_m] would make a good alternative. I would most definitely spell it [name_m]Weston[/name_m], not [name_m]Westyn[/name_m].
I love the name [name_m]Hayes[/name_m]. To me, it’s a surname, not a word name, but it is a homophone to [name_m]Haze[/name_m]. I could see someone making the mistake if they hadn’t seen the name on paper. However, I don’t think it’s that big of a deal, at all. He can just explain that it’s “[name_m]Hayes[/name_m]” not “[name_m]Haze[/name_m]” if anyone makes that mistake.
[name_m]Weston[/name_m] or [name_m]Westin[/name_m] are both fine, though I prefer [name_m]Weston[/name_m]–it seems more intuitive. Please not the Y.
[name_m]Weston[/name_m] and [name_u]Hudson[/name_u] are great together. I agree that Westie is a super cute nn.
[name_m]Griffin[/name_m] and [name_u]Hudson[/name_u] are awesome together as well.
[name_m]Griffin[/name_m] [name_m]Hayes[/name_m] sounds slightly better than [name_m]Weston[/name_m] [name_m]Hayes[/name_m], but both are fine. I don’t think the “haze” thing is a problem–especially since it’s a mn.
I think [name_u]Hudson[/name_u] & [name_m]Weston[/name_m] sound fine together. I don’t think of “haze” when I hear [name_m]Hayes[/name_m], I think it’s cute. I like the idea of having the two “H” names for the two boys as well. I think both are great. [name_m]Don[/name_m]'t care much for [name_m]Griffin[/name_m] personally, but do whatever you love!
I love [name_m]Weston[/name_m] and wish my hubby did! [name_f]Love[/name_f] nn [name_u]West[/name_u]. And I think [name_m]Hayes[/name_m] is super cute, I was wondering about the “[name_m]Haze[/name_m]” thing too.
[name_u]Hudson[/name_u] and [name_m]Weston[/name_m] are a little close for my tastes. As an aside, I’m personally not a fan of the more kree8tiv spellings (I would think it [name_m]Westyn[/name_m] was the name of a little girl).
[name_m]Hayes[/name_m] is a great name with lots of history (and a presidential surname!)-- but I have to say [name_m]Haze[/name_m] is really bad. [name_m]Haze[/name_m] (not [name_m]Hayes[/name_m]) fails the resume test, blind date test, and supreme court justice test (and I’d assume a drug test lol).
[name_m]Hayes[/name_m] does sound like [name_m]Haze[/name_m] as a FN. However, as a middle, it sounds very distinguished. [name_m]Hayes[/name_m] could be a family name. As a middle, it’s fine.
I much prefer [name_m]Weston[/name_m]. [name_m]Westyn[/name_m]/ [name_m]Westin[/name_m] looks too kree8f to me. [name_m]Weston[/name_m], [name_m]Wes[/name_m], [name_u]West[/name_u]. [name_f]Love[/name_f] it. (One of my personal faves, but my hubby won’t agree to it).
[name_u]Hudson[/name_u] and [name_m]Weston[/name_m] would be fine as a sibset. If you plan to try for baby #3, I’d advise against another -n name, because it would be a bit overly alliterative, at least for my taste.
I like the sound of [name_m]Wesley[/name_m] as well. It is wise to keep in mind that Methodism’s “founder” (for lack of a better word) was [name_m]John[/name_m] [name_m]Wesley[/name_m]. The name [name_m]Wesley[/name_m] has some cultural/ religious ties for a substantial portion of the population.
I love [name_m]Weston[/name_m] but I’m a little biased since it’s my son’s name
I also think that [name_m]Hayes[/name_m] won’t have a problem with ‘[name_m]Haze[/name_m]’ in the middle spot!
[name_m]Griffin[/name_m] is also a great name and I would encourage you to use it but for selfish reasons because I don’t want [name_m]Weston[/name_m] to gain in popularity!
