I posted the other day about my husband & having very different boy name styles.
On my side, I love classic with a clean-cut 1950s vibe. [name_m]John[/name_m] & [name_u]Francis[/name_u] are my faves
On his side, he loves out-there names with a tough-guy grandiose feel to them. [name_m]Ulysses[/name_m] & [name_m]Cassius[/name_m] are his faves.
Today [name_m]Woodrow[/name_m] popped into my head. I’ve considered it before, but now I think I should mention it to my husband. What do you think of [name_m]Woodrow[/name_m] nn [name_m]Woody[/name_m]?
Here are some others that could work. I would love thoughts & suggestions
[name_m]Woodrow[/name_m] seems like a good compromise between your style and your husband’s. It’s not a name I would use, but I would be very intrigued to meet a little [name_m]Woodrow[/name_m]. I knew a guy in high school that went by [name_m]Woody[/name_m] (his last name was [name_m]Woodrow[/name_m]). It makes me think of [name_m]Woody[/name_m] [name_m]Allen[/name_m]. I also like [name_u]Robin[/name_u], [name_m]Winston[/name_m], and [name_u]Wallace[/name_u] from your list. [name_m]Ulysses[/name_m] is awesome. Your husband’s favorite names seem like great middle name material.
I really like [name_m]Woodrow[/name_m], it’s a strong choice. Not a fan of [name_m]Woody[/name_m], though. I like Woods as a nickname.
I really like [name_u]Francis[/name_u] and [name_m]Cassius[/name_m]!
[name_m]Cliff[/name_m] - Really like this, I think it’s better than the full version [name_m]Clifford[/name_m]. Great sound
Vitto - It’s too much like veto for me
[name_u]Wallace[/name_u] - Not a big fan, sorry
[name_m]Walter[/name_m] - Not a big fan, sorry
[name_m]Beauregard[/name_m] - I like [name_m]Beau[/name_m], but I feel like someone with this name would have a bit of a hard time in todays society
[name_m]Robert[/name_m] - seems a bit boring compared to your other choices
[name_u]Robin[/name_u] - Not a fan, sorry
[name_m]Winston[/name_m] - [name_f]Love[/name_f]!! Very cute.
I adore [name_u]Leland[/name_u]! But my daughter is an L name and I don’t want to feel stuck with a theme. I actually love [name_m]Cassius[/name_m], but I loathe [name_m]Cash[/name_m] as a nn so much that I couldn’t ever use it. My husband likes [name_m]Cash[/name_m] & thinks of it like [name_m]Johnny[/name_m] [name_m]Cash[/name_m]. I just think dolla dolla bills sadly!
[name_m]Woodrow[/name_m] is NMS, but seems like a good compromise for you and your husband. However, I would keep adolescent boy humor in mind when deciding on the nickname.
I also like [name_m]Cliff[/name_m], [name_m]Beauregard[/name_m] nn [name_m]Beau[/name_m], and [name_m]Winston[/name_m].
[name_m]Woodrow[/name_m] is a nice strong name that I would love to see. I agree that it’s a nice compromise between both of your choices and Woods would make and adorable, cool nickname. As an American I immediately think of [name_m]Woodrow[/name_m] [name_m]Wilson[/name_m], a US president in the 1910’s. I’m not sure what country you live in, but he was largely considered a good president. [name_m]Woodrow[/name_m] is my favorite from your list.
[name_m]Woodrow[/name_m] [name_m]Cassius[/name_m]
[name_m]John[/name_m] [name_m]Woodrow[/name_m]
[name_m]Evander[/name_m] [name_m]Woodrow[/name_m]
[name_m]Cliff[/name_m] [name_m]Beauregard[/name_m]
[name_u]Francis[/name_u] [name_m]Beauregard[/name_m]- nn [name_m]Frank[/name_m], pretty macho/tough guy, maybe your husband will like this.
[name_m]Dwight[/name_m] [name_u]Wallace[/name_u]
[name_m]Desmond[/name_m] [name_u]Wallace[/name_u]- nn [name_m]Des[/name_m]
[name_m]Desmond[/name_m] [name_m]Walter[/name_m]
[name_u]Robin[/name_u] [name_m]Dwight[/name_m]
I love your list and name style. I actually think your style and your husbands pair well.
I think of [name_m]Woodrow[/name_m] [name_m]Wilson[/name_m] when I hear [name_m]Woodrow[/name_m]… not a bad connotation.
honestly I love the names
[name_m]Beauregard[/name_m]
[name_m]Cliff[/name_m]
and I’d love to see [name_m]Beauregard[/name_m] in use.
My favorites that you mention are [name_m]Cassius[/name_m], [name_m]Robert[/name_m], [name_u]Wallace[/name_u], and [name_m]Ulysses[/name_m]. I wouldn’t use [name_m]Woodrow[/name_m] due to the “[name_m]Woody[/name_m]” nn. But it is a nice presidential name. (Although all I remember from U.S. [name_m]History[/name_m] was our teacher saying [name_m]Woodrow[/name_m] [name_m]Wilson[/name_m] was pretty racist…) [name_m]Woodrow[/name_m] itself sounds nice, though.
UPDATE!
He strongly dislikes the name! It’s the nickname [name_m]Woody[/name_m] that ruins it for him! He said that he likes [name_m]Woodrow[/name_m] & the fact that he’s never heard of anyone (aside from [name_m]Wilson[/name_m]!) whose had this name, but he can’t help but think of the teasing that a middle school boy called [name_m]Woody[/name_m] might endure! So [name_m]Woodrow[/name_m] is off the list!
@ursa_minor [name_u]Francis[/name_u] [name_m]Beauregard[/name_m] is a combo that I would use in a heartbeat! It’s been my top boy choice for awhile, but my husband doesn’t find [name_m]Frank[/name_m]/[name_u]Frankie[/name_u] to be distinctive enough & finds [name_u]Francis[/name_u] to be feminine sounding with [name_m]Beauregard[/name_m]!!
[name_m]Viggo[/name_m] is an interesting suggestion since I have a mad crush on [name_m]Viggo[/name_m] Mortensen…that might make it an awkward choice in my husband’s eyes Vitto is actually my one pick that I thought my husband would get behind, but he isn’t feeling it at all!
I love all of your L name suggestions, but my daughter is [name_f]Leonie[/name_f]. We are avoiding L names even though I love so many- [name_u]Leland[/name_u], [name_m]Louis[/name_m]…
[name_m]Cliff[/name_m]- Reminds me immediately of [name_m]Cliff[/name_m] bars, I prefer [name_m]Clyde[/name_m], I think it has a similar feel, I also love the suggestion of [name_m]Heathcliff[/name_m]
Vitto- I prefer [name_m]Viggo[/name_m] : )
[name_u]Wallace[/name_u]- I really like this, a handsome, underused surname
[name_m]Walter[/name_m]- I love [name_m]Walter[/name_m]! My favorite on your list, a wonderful classic also [name_m]Walt[/name_m] is adorable
[name_m]Beauregard[/name_m]- a lot of name, but I love nn [name_m]Beau[/name_m], would be a great middle
[name_m]Robert[/name_m]- I would say [name_m]Robert[/name_m] is a bit dated and a “Dad” name at the moment, even though it is a classic, but I think you have more interesting choices on your list
[name_u]Robin[/name_u]- I do know a male named [name_u]Robin[/name_u] who is [name_m]French[/name_m], but in the US I think this name has gone to the girls as the only [name_u]Robin[/name_u]'s I know here are female
[name_m]Winston[/name_m]- I really like [name_m]Winston[/name_m] and the nn [name_u]Win[/name_u]
I guess we both love “W” names, my favorites are [name_m]Walter[/name_m], [name_u]Wallace[/name_u] and [name_m]Winston[/name_m], also I just wanted to say I think [name_f]Leonie[/name_f] is a gorgeous name!
[name_u]Robin[/name_u] ([name_u]Robin[/name_u] [name_m]Mark[/name_m] is a great combo - well that’s my opinion, maybe because the real Irish Robin Mark is one of my heroes), [name_u]Wallace[/name_u] and [name_m]Cassius[/name_m] are my favorites all around.
Viggo turns me off because of it’s “war” meaning; Vito/Vitto on the other hand is Italian for “life”.
I strongly dislike nn [name_m]Cash[/name_m] too, but [name_m]Cassius[/name_m] is soooo adorable! [name_m]How[/name_m] about [name_m]Caspian[/name_m]? Corbin? Tobin? Tobias? Lol, each one makes me think of another! Correct ppl who wanna call him Cash… Cassius Leland would be too cute for words
[name_m]Even[/name_m] [name_m]Rupert[/name_m] (nn Ru) could take the place of [name_m]Robert[/name_m] from your list…?
