A very unusual and (for me) unheard-of name in real life that I have developed a strong fondness for is Zadkiel. It is a well-established name with Hebrew roots, but it is not even in this website’s database. Excuse my language, but I think it sounds pretty badass. I’d call him [name_m]Zak[/name_m] (this spelling).
It is said that Zadkiel was the archangel who stopped [name_m]Abraham[/name_m] from killing his son [name_m]Isaac[/name_m]. Cool, cool.
I would choose a more grounded middle name (probably [name_u]Wyatt[/name_u]), but I was just curious if this name would get any high or low marks here. Thanks.
It’s a bit out there but it’s usable! Better as a middle, but I do think it works as a first name. I prefer [name_m]Zade[/name_m] as a nickname though. Zadkiel is very quirky and out there and I think calling him plain [name_m]Zak[/name_m] kind of defeats the purpose of such an unusual name.
I really like it! I feel like I’ve seen it before somewhere, but can’t quite place where… [name_m]Sharp[/name_m], funky sounds but a long history, and good nickname potential.
What if I dropped the d to make it Zakiel? I barely pronounce the d anyway, and sort of replace it with a glottal stop when I am pronouncing it quickly. I like Zakiel as a name, too.
I also like it spelled Zachael, sort of a hybrid of [name_u]Michael[/name_u] and [name_m]Zachary[/name_m]. And I have seen Zachaël in real like.
Zachiel is yet another option.
(I also really love and would use [name_m]Zaccai[/name_m], but let’s pretend [name_m]Zaccai[/name_m] does not exist as an option.)
It’s a cool story, but I think I like [name_m]Zadok[/name_m] even more? I agree with the poster who said the transition between “zad” and “kiel” isn’t the easiest to say. I like the idea but there’s other unusual names related to the Bible I like more? Then again, I’d use [name_m]Boaz[/name_m], [name_m]Barzillai[/name_m], [name_u]Aquila[/name_u], [name_m]Bartholomew[/name_m], Pudens, etc., which are no more brave. I would say go for it! It has some cool nns, too.
I like unique names too, but that’s quite the mouth full. At least for me anyways. I couldn’t imagine my mother or grandparents trying to pronounce it either.
