Thouughts on Ardith?

Its a Hebrew name meaning flowering fields. Comments appreciated

Although it isn’t very common in the U.S.right now, I like the sound, the meaning, and the history of this name. (I have known a woman named [name_f]Ardith[/name_f].) To my ear, it fits in with names that are on-trend, but is less expected. I would like to hear more of this name.

Ohhh, I love this! Very beautiful!

The only [name_f]Ardith[/name_f] I know is an elderly lady, but I think this name is totally ready for a comeback! It sounds perfectly fresh. I love the nickname Ardie (like [name_f]Addie[/name_f]).

While I appreciate the meaning and the origin, I can’t help but feel as if this name is a weird cross between [name_u]Arden[/name_u] and [name_u]Meredith[/name_u].

I think of [name_f]Ardeth[/name_f] [name_u]Bay[/name_u] from The Mummy. Personally, I don’t like the sound of it.

I’ve never heard this name before, but I think it is a cool alternative to other A names today. [name_m]Don[/name_m]'t think I would use it personally, but I don’t think it would be out of place.

IIRC, the long-time editor of Prevention magazine was named [name_f]Ardith[/name_f]. That’s the only usage of the name that I’ve heard of. Her monthly columns were well written & enjoyable, so I have a positive image of the name.

I think it’s beautiful! I only discovered the name through NB and I like that it feels like a lovely mix of old ([name_f]Edith[/name_f], [name_f]Judith[/name_f]) and new ([name_u]Arden[/name_u]), though of course it has its own history.

In a similar vein, [name_u]Arliss[/name_u] and [name_f]Tanith[/name_f] are also very pretty.

I think it’s unique but still familiar enough for ppl to pronounce correctly!

I also thought of [name_f]Ardeth[/name_f] [name_u]Bay[/name_u]!

I actually think [name_f]Ardith[/name_f] is very pretty. I like the meaning, too. It reminds me of [name_f]Edith[/name_f] and [name_u]Meredith[/name_u], so I definitely think its usable.

I think it’s very pretty. Reminds me of another favourite of mine; [name_f]Edith[/name_f]

I like [name_f]Ardith[/name_f], it’s very pretty…

I like it! I enjoy -th names, and [name_f]Ardith[/name_f] is unusual, but sounds great. I’ve come across it now and again, but I always forget about it somehow.

thanks for your feedback! [name_f]Happy[/name_f] to see there has been an overall positive response

I love [name_f]Ardith[/name_f]! It combines [name_u]Arden[/name_u] and [name_f]Edith[/name_f], which are rising in popularity, but seems more charming than either of them. I think it’s a real winner!

I don’t think it sounds pretty at all. But I don’t like most 2-syllable names that end in “th”…[name_f]Judith[/name_f], [name_f]Lilith[/name_f], [name_f]Elspeth[/name_f], [name_f]Edith[/name_f], etc…
