Three questions, would love to hear your thoughts :)

1/2. [name_f]My[/name_f] family has always been big on nicknames and [name_f]Bella[/name_f] was my all-time favourite name as a kid so I had always planned to have an [name_f]Isabella[/name_f] ‘Bella’
3. I would more likely choose [name_f]Isabella[/name_f] as the [name_f]Bella[/name_f] nickname is more intuitive (though it is also intuitive for [name_f]Annabel[/name_f], just more so for Isabella) and less margin for error (i.e. assumptions that Bella’s full first name is Annabella). But those can easily be corrected so if [name_f]Annabel[/name_f] is the name you love more, you should use it.

And mirroring other posters about Anna/Annie and [name_f]Izzy[/name_f] being used as potential nicknames later on

If you love [name_f]Bella[/name_f] and only want to call her [name_f]Bella[/name_f] then that’s what you should probably use on the birth certificate.

If that’s not an option then use [name_f]Annabel[/name_f]. [name_f]Bella[/name_f] is completely intuitive from [name_f]Annabel[/name_f].

  1. If you wanted to call your daughter Bella, which name would you put on the birth certificate?

I love longer, more formal names on a birth certificate. And if I’m not wrong, it translates ‘beautiful’ in some languages, so it’s pretty much the same as naming a child ‘Beautiful’. It’s a gorgeous stand alone name in English speaking countries, but my mind works like this - I don’t know in what country my future child ends up living (maybe they marry an Italian and they end up living in Rome :woman_shrugging:t2:), so I wouldn’t use a name that is an adjective in some big language (even though it’s a positive one).
My personal favourite Bella name is Isabelle

  1. Which one out of these do you prefer? Annabel, Isabella, Maribel, Mirabel or Mirabelle? You can’t change the spellings.

Annabel - I think of baby Annabel from the Mary Poppins book series :smiling_face_with_three_hearts:
Annabel chapter from the book ‘Mary Poppins comes back’ . The story about her starts from page 7 in this document (136 in the book). But I leave the whole chapter. It’s absolutely adorable:

Isabella - to me it’s a royal, aristocratic name. I think of all the queens named Isabella. And the sound is so stunning.

  1. If you loved Annabel and Isabella almost equally (but Annabel a bit more and for a longer time), but wanted to call your daughter Bella often, which would you choose? The name you liked a bit better (Annabel) or the one you also like a lot (Isabella), which makes more sense and leads easier to the nickname Bella?

I’d use the one you lovelove. Choose Annabel.

Bella is still a very logical nickname for Annabel. I mean, the intuitive nn’s are Anna, Ana, Bella, Belle. But with Isabella, there are also more intuitive ones than just Bella. There are Izzy, Belle etc.

  1. [name_f]Bella[/name_f]. I like longer names containing sounds that could lead to [name_f]Bella[/name_f] as a nn but I think [name_f]Bella[/name_f] is a great name itself.

  2. [name_f]Maribel[/name_f] :sparkles:

  3. I’d choose the name I liked most. In this case I think [name_f]Bella[/name_f] totally works as a nn for [name_f]Annabel[/name_f].
