Three questions, would love to hear your thoughts :)

  1. If you wanted to call your daughter [name_f]Bella[/name_f], which name would you put on the birth certificate?

  2. Which one out of these do you prefer? [name_f]Annabel[/name_f], [name_f]Isabella[/name_f], [name_f]Maribel[/name_f], [name_f]Mirabel[/name_f] or [name_f]Mirabelle[/name_f]? You can’t change the spellings.

  3. If you loved [name_f]Annabel[/name_f] and [name_f]Isabella[/name_f] almost equally (but [name_f]Annabel[/name_f] a bit more and for a longer time), but wanted to call your daughter [name_f]Bella[/name_f] often, which would you choose? The name you liked a bit better (Annabel) or the one you also like a lot (Isabella), which makes more sense and leads easier to the nickname [name_f]Bella[/name_f]?

  1. I would put [name_f]Bella[/name_f] on the birth certificate as I think it works just fine as a standalone name.
  2. I like [name_f]Isabella[/name_f] best of those.
  3. I would choose [name_f]Isabella[/name_f] because I like both and it makes [name_f]Bella[/name_f] more intuitive.

1 & 2: [name_f]Annabel[/name_f]!
3: Still [name_f]Annabel[/name_f], I don’t think [name_f]Bella[/name_f] is a stretch as a nickname for it! It’s still very intuitive, and since you like [name_f]Annabel[/name_f] better than [name_f]Isabella[/name_f], I’d go for it.

annabel for all of these!

  1. If it was [name_f]Bella[/name_f] I loved and [name_f]Bella[/name_f] I planned to call her, then just [name_f]Bella[/name_f] would be on the birth certificate

  2. [name_f]Mirabel[/name_f] would be my first choice! Followed by [name_f]Annabel[/name_f]

  3. [name_f]Annabel[/name_f] ‘Bella’ makes sense to me, so if that’s what I loved more, I’d use that

  1. If I only wanted to call her [name_f]Bella[/name_f] and had no intention of ever using any other name, then I would put [name_f]Bella[/name_f].

  2. [name_f]Isabella[/name_f]

  3. I would do [name_f]Annabel[/name_f]. If I loved that name the longest and felt the strongest about it I would use that name. Then I would use [name_f]Bella[/name_f] as a nickname. Once you start introducing them with that name that’s what everyone will naturally use

1- whichever name i liked best, even if it was just bella

2- mirabel/le is my absolutely favorite

3- i suppose isabella is almost always instantly a bella, and chunkier to say it fully, while annabel flows easily as a full name to go by, and also easily leads to belle. but both make sense just fine, i wouldn’t judge it by nickname alone, but how you’d use the name as a whole. judge it by which name is more fun to yell

1.) I love the name [name_f]Mirabelle[/name_f], it’s on my name list.

2.) [name_f]Mirabelle[/name_f] of course !!

3.) [name_f]Annabel[/name_f]. I think the nickname [name_f]Bella[/name_f] is still intuitive. This name is also more rare compared to the popular [name_f]Isabella[/name_f] which is still a gorgeous name. But I think [name_f]Annabel[/name_f] is so underused and pretty.

  1. I think I would go with [name_f]Bella[/name_f]! Honestly I do not see the point in using a longer option if I was head over heels with just [name_f]Bella[/name_f]. Furthermore I know a girl called just [name_f]Bella[/name_f] and I’ve always liked it.

  2. They all lovely but my favourite is [name_f]Annabel[/name_f] she’s romantic, elegant and pays homage to my Scottish heritage.

  3. I would always go with the name you have a stronger preference for. Nicknames are very intuitive so if you go with [name_f]Bella[/name_f] full name ‘Annabel’ she’ll be known as [name_f]Bella[/name_f] as that’s what you call her. Also just to add when she gets older it maybe trickier to control her nickname she may choose to go by [name_f]Annie[/name_f] or [name_f]Izzy[/name_f] for example and you can’t really control that. So if you truly love [name_f]Bella[/name_f] I could go with just [name_f]Bella[/name_f]. Similarly I love [name_f]Evie[/name_f] and would use just [name_f]Evie[/name_f] over longer names like [name_f]Evangeline[/name_f] or [name_f]Genevieve[/name_f] (admittedly both names are on my list) as you cannot control your child being [name_f]Genevieve[/name_f] ‘Evie’ rather than choosing to be known as [name_f]Gen[/name_f].

  1. [name_f]Bella[/name_f] is perfect just as it is for a birth certificate. It is its own name, so no need to put something else unless you actually want to use that name.

  2. Out of your choices I prefer [name_f]Annabel[/name_f].

  3. If [name_f]Annabel[/name_f] is the name you’re more in love with then that’s the name you should use IMO. People may assume her name is [name_f]Annabella[/name_f] if you use [name_f]Bella[/name_f] but it’s not out of the ordinary for [name_f]Bella[/name_f] to be a nickname for Bel/belle ending names.

  1. Probably [name_f]Isabelle[/name_f].
  2. With you spellings my top three in order are [name_f]Mirabel[/name_f], [name_f]Isabella[/name_f], then [name_f]Annabel[/name_f].
  3. Since you’ve loved [name_f]Annabel[/name_f] more and longer I would go with that but it might take a bit more to enforce the nickname since Annie/Anna seem like the more common/intuitive choices. Getting [name_f]Bella[/name_f] for [name_f]Isabella[/name_f] would be a little easier.

If I wanted to call her [name_f]Bella[/name_f], I’d name her [name_f]Bella[/name_f].

  1. [name_f]Bella[/name_f] works perfectly well as a stand alone name. I personally prefer longer names but that’s because I love nickname options. [name_f]Isabelle[/name_f] is on my short list, so that’s my top pick.

  2. [name_f]Annabel[/name_f] or [name_f]Isabella[/name_f].

  3. [name_m]Ah[/name_m], exactly between the two names I just chose. I think it depends on whether you mind the girl (or her friends) potentially choosing another nickname once she’s older or not. [name_f]Bella[/name_f] is intuituve enough for both, but as another poster has pointed out, she might end up preferring Anna/Annie or Isa/Izzy. [name_f]Do[/name_f] you mind? From the way you explained it, I guess you prefer [name_f]Annabel[/name_f]. If you’re okay with another potential nickname, I think you should choose [name_f]Annabel[/name_f] over [name_f]Isabella[/name_f]. But if you don’t like [name_f]Annie[/name_f] and want to make sure she’s 100% strictly [name_f]Bella[/name_f], go with [name_f]Bella[/name_f].

  1. if I was interested in exclusively calling her [name_f]Bella[/name_f], I would put that on the certificate.
  2. [name_f]Mirabel[/name_f]! I think it’s such a sweet name!
  3. [name_f]Isabella[/name_f] would lead to [name_f]Bella[/name_f] easier, but if I loved [name_f]Annabel[/name_f] a lot, I would use it.

hope this helps!

  1. I would probably use [name_f]Isabella[/name_f], but I’ve been admiring [name_f]Mirabella[/name_f] a lot.

  2. That’s a difficult choice! Today, I’m going to vote for [name_f]Mirabelle[/name_f]. [name_f]Isabella[/name_f] and [name_f]Mirabel[/name_f] are amazing too!

  3. In that situation, I would use [name_f]Annabel[/name_f]. [name_f]Bella[/name_f] is an intuitive name for both. I would use the name I love the most!

  1. [name_f]Isobel[/name_f], probably. [name_f]Isobel[/name_f] nn [name_f]Bella[/name_f] is my top choice for a future daughter. I’ve been really liking [name_f]Mirabella[/name_f] and Arabella/Arabel lately, but I also am a big [name_f]Annabel[/name_f] fan. Any of the options are lovely.

  2. Probably [name_f]Isabella[/name_f]. I like [name_f]Mirabelle[/name_f] but prefer [name_f]Mirabella[/name_f]. And I like the [name_f]Isobel[/name_f] family over the [name_f]Annabel[/name_f] one.

  3. Simple… [name_f]Annabel[/name_f]! No reason why an [name_f]Annabel[/name_f] can’t be [name_f]Bella[/name_f], you’ve liked her longer and more intensely, etc.! [name_m]Just[/name_m] because [name_f]Isabella[/name_f] has the a on the end doesn’t mean that you can’t as easily add the a to the end of [name_f]Annabel[/name_f]. Plus, imo [name_f]Bella[/name_f] is much more lovely than [name_f]Belle[/name_f]

Good luck!

I would put [name_f]Bella[/name_f] on the Birth Certificate. I grew up being called by a nickname and I don’t like the problems it causes as you get older with documents, etc… So I would just use [name_f]Bella[/name_f]. :woman_shrugging:

  1. probably just [name_f]Bella[/name_f] unless I also loved and planned on calling her the long form, but if she would be [name_f]Bella[/name_f] 100% of the time I think just [name_f]Bella[/name_f] is best

  2. [name_f]Annabel[/name_f] or [name_f]Mirabel[/name_f]

  3. [name_f]Annabel[/name_f], [name_f]Isabella[/name_f] may be slightly more intuitive, but I think calling [name_f]Annabel[/name_f], [name_f]Bella[/name_f] is still an obvious nickname choice
