Threw Out the List

[name]Baby[/name] Girl could come any day now and we decided last night to throw out our list of girls names. We decided we love the name [name]Nora[/name]/[name]Norah[/name]. Is this a good enough name on its own or are there beautiful longer versions she should go by and just have this be a nickname? Thoughts on Name/Spelling/Longer Version, please.

Possible middle names (all mn’s are family names):

[name]Norah[/name] [name]Bethany[/name]
[name]Norah[/name] [name]Lynn[/name]
[name]Norah[/name] [name]May[/name]
[name]Norah[/name] [name]Jean[/name]
[name]Norah[/name] [name]Josephine[/name]

[name]Do[/name] any of the middle names just sound awful?? [name]Bethany[/name] would be my first choice just based on the relationship to the name but I really want the middle name to flow and be beautiful.

Have you considered Annorah, [name]Honora[/name], [name]Lenorah[/name], or [name]Eleanor[/name]/ah? Those would all give you [name]Nora[/name].

I happen to prefer the spelling [name]Nora[/name], but [name]Norah[/name] is fine too. From your list, I like these best:

#1 [name]Nora[/name] [name]Bethany[/name]
#2 [name]Nora[/name] [name]Josephine[/name]
#3 [name]Nora[/name] [name]May[/name]

Best wishes!

I like this name better just on it’s own, but I prefer the simpler spelling of [name]Nora[/name]. I find the longer versions to be a bit tedious for my taste. [name]Nora[/name] [name]Josephine[/name] sounds the prettiest to me but [name]Nora[/name] [name]Bethany[/name] is a close second. I think especially if you choose to just go with [name]Nora[/name]/[name]Norah[/name] then as a whole it sounds better with a longer mn and the 2syllable/3syllable lilt. (The only choice I wouldn’t suggest is [name]Nora[/name] [name]Jean[/name]… way too close to [name]Norma[/name] [name]Jean[/name]) Good luck! =]

I agree I prefer the [name]Nora[/name] spelling. First pick would be [name]Nora[/name] [name]Bethany[/name] and second [name]Nora[/name] [name]Josephine[/name]. So pretty.

[name]Nora[/name] [name]Josephine[/name]/[name]Bethany[/name] too close to call

I prefer the [name]Nora[/name] spelling, as well. My favorite longer version is [name]Eleanor[/name], though [name]Honora[/name] and [name]Lenora[/name] are beautiful, too. I also prefer [name]Nora[/name] [name]Josephine[/name] far more than the rest. It’s so sweet and sophisticated.

I like [name]Norah[/name] better than [name]Nora[/name] as a stand alone name. Personally I like [name]Lenore[/name] or [name]Eleanor[/name] or [name]Honoria[/name] or [name]Honor[/name] over [name]Norah[/name], but at the same time I think [name]Norah[/name] / [name]Nora[/name] is fine on it’s own. It’s just a style/taste thing…I like [name]Lorelei[/name] over [name]Laura[/name], but [name]Laura[/name] is a fine name…

[name]Norah[/name] [name]Bethany[/name] this is nice
[name]Norah[/name] [name]Lynn[/name] this is ok but blends together a bit imo
[name]Norah[/name] [name]May[/name] very sweet I prefer this
[name]Norah[/name] [name]Jean[/name] reminds me of [name]Norma[/name] [name]Jean[/name] aka [name]Marilyn[/name] [name]Monroe[/name]
[name]Norah[/name] [name]Josephine[/name] has the most pizazz in my opinion

If you love [name]Norah[/name] [name]Bethany[/name] go for it! The only one I would avoid is [name]Norah[/name] [name]Jean[/name] cause the [name]Marilyn[/name] thing come to me immediately. But [name]Eleanor[/name] [name]Jean[/name] or whatever longer form gets rid of that immediate connection thing!

[name]Nora[/name]/h is lovely! If [name]Bethany[/name] has meaning then, [name]Nora[/name] [name]Bethany[/name] is perfect.

I like [name]Nora[/name] it sounds great with [name]Bethany[/name]. If you want a longer version my personal choice would be [name]Leonora[/name].

I personally love [name]Norah[/name] [name]Jean[/name] and [name]Norah[/name] [name]Lynn[/name].
