So I’m going to just dip my toe into the waters of The Girl Name Search here. Over the past 4 or 5 weeks I’ve been taking a break, and just noting names that I admire when I happen across them in the blog and forums.
I’ve noted a few new pet favorites with a similarity – they all end in an “ay” sound. I don’t think any of these are “the one” for various reasons, but I thought it might be nice if any of you lovely Berries can think of other names with a similar ending – maybe something will tickle my fancy. It’s a tricky sound to “search” for!
@jesba - Hey there! [name_m]Long[/name_m] time no see! You know, I do really like [name_f]Estee[/name_f]. I wish it didn’t always make me think of perfume, ugh!
@blackcatsmeow - love your username, so cute. I thought [name_f]Eponine[/name_f] was ep-un-EEN?
@burnsbert - thanks for the ideas, some of them are boys names and some are pronounced “ee” instead of “ay” (at least in my local accent) but I appreciate the nice long list! [name_f]Idamae[/name_f] is kind of cute, but I think I’d like just plain [name_f]Ida[/name_f] or [name_f]Mae[/name_f].
@augusta_lee - Eep, there’s [name_f]Isolde[/name_f] again. I’m kind of in love with that one, and I was afraid I was mispronouncing it with the “ay” at the end, but every time I see it it’s just so beautiful. So far I haven’t gotten Hubby on board but I’m keeping it on my favorites list. Forgot about [name_f]Soleil[/name_f], I really like that one too, I’d totally use it if I weren’t afraid of people saying, “As in Cirque de…??” Urgh. Ooh, forgot about [name_f]Vionnet[/name_f], I don’t know if I can bring myself to up and use a designer’s name for no reason other than it’s pretty. I’ve never, ever heard Pasiphae, Adaye or Adelai so big time score for you there. Thanks!

@collmcc523@rkrd@viviana@ottilie & @nat108 - well, this has been fun! Thanks for throwing in all the pretty names. I especially like and/or these are new to me:
[name_f]Amoret[/name_f] (makes me smile)
[name_f]Alize[/name_f] (a bit softer than [name_f]Eliza[/name_f] though probably confusing)
Edmee (I’ve never seen this one)
[name_f]Calais[/name_f] (pretty and cute!)
[name_f]Agne[/name_f] (which is an accomplishment, I’ve never liked any [name_f]Ag[/name_f]- name before)
Austrine (sadness, this spelling would never pass Hubby)
Isemay (so romantic!)
Rosemay (how sweet is that)
[name_f]Violante[/name_f] (too bad it actually does look like the word “violent” to me)
Thanks ladies! It’s fun to do a bit of “window shopping” and take the pressure off myself to PICK A NAME, even if it’s for a little while. Lots of pretty names here.
[name_m]How[/name_m] about the ‘ay’ sound in the middle? I really like the name [name_f]Doveva[/name_f]…it’s pretty, energetic, intriguing, plus it has a nice meaning and a cute nn to boot - [name_u]Dove[/name_u]! (which of course makes me think of peace, which is very nice!) [name_f]Veva[/name_f] as a nn is kind of cute, too, I think, and gives you the ‘ay’ sound right up front…
Oh, and now here is the part where I have to confess that I was pronouncing [name_f]Doveva[/name_f] as [name_u]DOVE[/name_u]-ev-uh. [name_f]Veva[/name_f] is pretty too, though I think it would probably be heard as “viva.” Though any of the names with “ev” in them are tricky since we already have an [name_f]Eve[/name_f]. Good ideas though, thanks!
