Tilda Marigold?

Feeling like my girl naming journey is a marathon :joy:[name_f][/name_f] husband bought [name_f]Tilda[/name_f] up!

[name_f][/name_f]

I just wanted opinions on this name, we don’t like [name_f]Matilda[/name_f] but do love [name_f]Tilda[/name_f] and it’s easy in [name_f]English[/name_f] and Scandinavia where hubbys from. [name_f]Do[/name_f] you think many people would ask if it’s short for [name_f]Matilda[/name_f], or do you think it’s strong enough to stand alone as a name? This is my only hesitation.

[name_f][/name_f]

I absolutely LOVE this named paired with [name_f]Marigold[/name_f] for the middle name, that I’m also now considering pairing it with our other top girl name, which is [name_f]Kaia[/name_f]. Originally we have [name_f]Summer[/name_f] picked as the middle name for [name_f]Kaia[/name_f], but this means our son will have the exact same initials (KS last name )

[name_f][/name_f]

If we chose [name_f]Tilda[/name_f] then our son wouldn’t have the same initial, but ultimately I do just want to choose the name which we think fits best [name_f][/name_f]!

[name_f][/name_f]

Any insight would be great!

I do think people will ask if it’s short for [name_f]Matilda[/name_f], but I don’t think that’s a problem at all and it shouldn’t deter you. It works as a stand alone name thanks to [name_f]Tilda[/name_f] Swinton (even though her full name is [name_f]Matilda[/name_f], nobody knows her by her full name!) [name_f]Tilda[/name_f] [name_f]Marigold[/name_f] is beautiful, great flow.

I think [name_f]Tilda[/name_f] definitely works as a stand-alone name she’s bright, spunky with a pan European feel. Yes people will probably ask if it’s short for [name_f]Matilda[/name_f] but honestly wouldn’t let this deter you. People will get their heads around it easily. Also nickname names are very vogue so within a sea of Winnie’s, Elsie’s, Alfie’s and Archie’s [name_f]Tilda[/name_f] fits right in. [name_f]Marigold[/name_f] is a gorgeous middle name for [name_f]Tilda[/name_f]! I’m swooning :yellow_heart:

Both. :slightly_smiling_face:[name_f][/name_f] I think it may come up a few times, but it’s a quick correction and [name_f]Tilda[/name_f] can absolutely stand on its own.

[name_f][/name_f]

[name_f]Tilda[/name_f] [name_f]Marigold[/name_f] is beautiful, by the way!

I’m not really a huge fan of names with a strong K sound in all honestly with the exception of Kate/Katie/Katherine but names like [name_f]Kaia[/name_f], [name_f]Kayla[/name_f], [name_f]Kayleigh[/name_f], [name_f]Michaela[/name_f], [name_f]Keilani[/name_f] etc just really do not appeal to me with that stronger K sound.

Interesting thanks [name_f][/name_f]!

[name_f]Tilda[/name_f] is absolutely gorgeous, and I just love [name_f]Tilda[/name_f] [name_f]Marigold[/name_f] as a combo! She pairs amazingly with your son’s name as well, they both have such a quiet strength to them.

[name_f][/name_f]

You may get a person here or there asking if it’s short for [name_f]Matilda[/name_f], but I would label that as a non-issue because of how popular standalone nicknames are today (ex. [name_m]Charlie[/name_m], [name_f]Sadie[/name_f], [name_m]Jack[/name_m], etc).

[name_f][/name_f]

Between [name_f]Kaia[/name_f] & [name_f]Tilda[/name_f], I would definitely go for [name_f]Tilda[/name_f], but you can’t go wrong with either!

Tilda can definitely be a stand-alone name. Some people might assume it’s short for Matilda and ask about it, but if you’re introducing her as Tilda, then she will be called Tilda. I don’t think it anyone would actually call her Matilda.

Tilda Marigold is a nice pairing. Tilda very much strikes me as strong and sturdy, along the lines of Zelda and Frida. It’s also unexpected, although you might get a lot of Tilda Swinton comments as that’s the main association in Australia.

I still prefer Kaia Summer for you. I think the cool, down to earth vibes fit Kasper and your overall style a bit better. Also being a consistent favourite of yours gives it the edge over the new addition of Tilda. Either way, I’ll be interested to hear your announcement when baby arrives!

I don’t normally like floral names but this one rocks!

I think [name_f]Tilda[/name_f] is fine on its own. Go with it!

I think it could stand alone! [name_f]Tilda[/name_f] is gorgeous, strong, and lovely

[name_f]Tilda[/name_f] [name_f]Marigold[/name_f] is so sparkly and balance. I quite like [name_f]Tilda[/name_f] [name_f]Kaia[/name_f] but [name_f]Marigold[/name_f] has the edge

I love [name_f]Tilda[/name_f]! I like [name_f]Tilda[/name_f] and Kai’s both equally, so it would really depend on personality for me.

[name_f]Tilda[/name_f] [name_f]Marigold[/name_f] is lovely! [name_f][/name_f] I personally get hung up on [name_f]Tilda[/name_f] Swinton because the only role I’ve known her in is the white witch from the [name_f]Narnia[/name_f] films [name_m]Walden[/name_m] [name_f]Media[/name_f] put out around 2010. [name_f][/name_f] Not so fond of that association, but I do like [name_f]Tilda[/name_f] more than [name_f]Matilda[/name_f], but I also like [name_f]Tilly[/name_f] more than [name_f]Tilda[/name_f] (LOVE Tilly). [name_f][/name_f] I do like [name_f]Kaia[/name_f] better for you but [name_f]Tilda[/name_f] is a memorable and lovely name that I think is a nice option for you. [name_f][/name_f] [name_f]Love[/name_f] [name_f]Marigold[/name_f] as a middle for both firsts!

[name_f][/name_f]

Good luck!

Thank you!! That’s helpful! [name_f]Do[/name_f] you prefer [name_f]Kaia[/name_f] [name_f]Marigold[/name_f] or [name_f]Kaia[/name_f] [name_f]Summer[/name_f] if we went with [name_f]Kaia[/name_f]?

Thank you!! [name_f]Do[/name_f] you like [name_f]Kaia[/name_f] with [name_f]Summer[/name_f] more than [name_f]Marigold[/name_f] if we went with [name_f]Kaia[/name_f]?

Both are so sweet but I think I prefer [name_f]Kaia[/name_f] [name_f]Marigold[/name_f]! [name_f][/name_f] [name_f]Snow[/name_f] and [name_f]Summer[/name_f] feels very “summer and winter” to me and I like that [name_f]Marigold[/name_f] feels naturey like [name_f]Snow[/name_f] but not themey or matchy. [name_f][/name_f] I have loved [name_f]Kaia[/name_f] [name_f]Summer[/name_f] or [name_f]Kaia[/name_f] [name_f]Sunny[/name_f] for you for a long time now but I think I prefer [name_f]Kaia[/name_f] [name_f]Marigold[/name_f] now.

Thanks I was wondering if that will be the decider just to keep Kaspers name a little less matchy to his sister!

I prefer [name_f]Kaia[/name_f] [name_f]Summer[/name_f]. I just feel that [name_f]Kaia[/name_f] and [name_f]Summer[/name_f] have a similar energy so they naturally complement each other, whereas [name_f]Kaia[/name_f] and [name_f]Marigold[/name_f] feel quite different in style
[name_f][/name_f]so they contrast each other.

[name_f][/name_f]

I get that [name_f]Snow[/name_f] and [name_f]Summer[/name_f] are a little more thematic than what you’re aiming for. I would just say, if you have a daughter and [name_f]Kaia[/name_f] [name_f]Summer[/name_f] feels right, embrace the coincidence. A middle name tends to be hidden information and we get to choose who we share it with. You don’t need to please anyone but yourselves afterall.
