Time Jump Conundrum

A major folklore element of my worldbuilding is the Otherworld, the land of the Faeries, which moves at different pace of time. Originally, I had a time jump of five years, with the Otherworld moving 3-4 times as fast. This way, there would be around 1,000 years of separation between two groups of people, a main character born in the finale of the prequel would be aged up in time (she grew up in the Otherworld), and there wouldn’t be a gross age difference between characters between the main series and the prequel. But, I feel like five years is not enough time between the series, and am considering making it a decade in time, but in that case I would make the Otherworld only twice as fast, and I feel like it throws a wrench to so many other small details. Thoughts and comments?
