What is your opinion on the name [name_f]Tirzah[/name_f] for a girl? It is currently our #1 name for our second daughter, and I’m curious how the response to the name is.
Especially beceause [name_f]Tirzah[/name_f] is a name mostly used in the Jewish community. [name_f]Do[/name_f] you think [name_f]Tirzah[/name_f] would be odd on a non-Jewish girl?
What is your over-all opinion on the name? Is it too strange/old/ugly etc.?
[name_m]How[/name_m] would you spell it: [name_f]Tirzah[/name_f], [name_f]Tirza[/name_f] or [name_f]Thirza[/name_f]?
And last: What would you rate the first and middle name combo [name_f]Tirzah[/name_f] [name_f]Lenore[/name_f] (out of ten)?
I personally wouldn’t think twice about a non-Jewish girl named [name_f]Tirzah[/name_f]. I don’t think it’s such a big deal imo.
I kinda like [name_f]Tirzah[/name_f]. It’s quirky and uncommon. I do prefer the spelling [name_f]Thirza[/name_f] though.
[name_f]Lenore[/name_f] flows good with [name_f]Tirzah[/name_f], so I’d give it a 7.
I knew a [name_f]Thirza[/name_f] who wasn’t Jewish, so it wouldn’t even cross my mind that it might be odd.
I like it as a name, but just remember how long it took me to remember how to pronounce it correctly So if you want a name that’s easy for people to pronounce, I wouldn’t recommend it. It will also probably seem quite strange to a lot of people, but once you get used to it you realise what a pretty name it is.
I’m not a huge fan of [name_f]Tirzah[/name_f] [name_f]Lenore[/name_f]. I’m just not keen on two two syllable names together.
I’m always in favor of obscure Biblical names for girls. (The wearable ones, of course.) [name_f]Tirzah[/name_f] is wearable and really cool, so I like it.
I wouldn’t think twice about a non-Jewish woman with the name [name_f]Tirzah[/name_f], I think it’s cool (even though I’d never use it myself). It sounds a bit odd, but then again, it’s easy to adjust if you hear it enough. I prefer the [name_f]Thirza[/name_f] spelling myself, and [name_f]Thirza[/name_f] [name_f]Lenore[/name_f] is gorgeous.
I think [name_f]Tirzah[/name_f] is a fine name. It’s nms and looks a bit cumbersome but otherwise I really see no reason not to use it. (That said [name_f]Ksenia[/name_f] is a GP of mine and it’s no less cumbersome to spell or say). [name_f]Tirzah[/name_f] [name_f]Lenore[/name_f] would get a 7 from me. I think it flows nicely and combines a great quirky vintage feel that I like.
Here is my one concern. Your 1st daughters name is [name_f]Anna[/name_f]! I love [name_f]Anna[/name_f], she’s simple, beautiful, straightforward, easy to pronounce, recognizable and oddly underused. Next to [name_f]Anna[/name_f], [name_f]Tirzah[/name_f] makes me wonder if you hit your head or if [name_f]Anna[/name_f] is your step child, etc. While they both that -uh ending they don’t seem to go together, and this bothers me. (I know it’s not a concern for everyone but it would be for me, so I mention it). I think [name_f]Elinor[/name_f] [name_f]Tirzah[/name_f] would make more sense to me. (PS: I really like [name_f]Lenore[/name_f] but it wasn’t flowing right as a fn with [name_f]Tirzah[/name_f] as a mn for me).
