So I have come to like the name [name_f]Xaviera[/name_f]. I would pronounce it like the Nameberry suggestion zah-vee-[name_f]AIR[/name_f]-ah.
However, I think I’d like to spell it with a Z instead of an X. 1. because that would be a step away from being [name_m]Xavier[/name_m] with an “A” tacked onto the end and 2. because it would be pronounced differently than how most people I know pronounce [name_m]Xavier[/name_m] (ex-ZAY-vee-er).
I don’t like made up spellings but it seems that this is a legit change, as in, it’s been done before. Anyone have any insight into that or thoughts?
Also, I googled the name and came up with [name_f]Xavienna[/name_f]. Which I also like. But no results for changing that one to a Z.
I don’t know anything more as to usage/legitimacy, but I think [name_f]Zaviera[/name_f] is lovely, and it makes sense to change the X to a Z to solidify your preferred pronunciation.
I’d go with the Z. In [name_m]French[/name_m] [name_m]Xavier[/name_m] is pronounced with an “ex” rather than “z” at the start, but I like the Z pronunciation better. I’d never heard the feminine version of the name, but it’s lovely!
I like both [name_f]Zaviera[/name_f] and [name_f]Xavienna[/name_f] as options, but I think I slightly prefer the former. Very pretty, and I think the Z looks fine.
