What is your take on this name? What category would it fall in? Does it sound masculine or more gender neutral? I heard it on TV the other day and thought it was interesting, but would love some general feedback on it. What kind of kid do you see wearing it?
I like it, it’s rather gender neutral, but one of the names that is still masculine enough, totally usable for a boy. I think it’s modern, fresh and not trendy. Would be a good choice!
I definitely think [name]Tobin[/name] is masculine. I like it ok. I love the nn [name]Toby[/name], but [name]Tobiah[/name] and [name]Tobias[/name] are my favorite ways to get to [name]Toby[/name]. I always associate the name [name]Tobin[/name] with Jigsaw and the movie saw, because the name of the actor who plays Jigsaw is [name]Tobin[/name] [name]Bell[/name]. So, I always kind of have a negative association with [name]Tobin[/name]. However, 99.9% of people don’t even know who [name]Tobin[/name] [name]Bell[/name] is, much less would associate the name with the movie Saw. Haha.
Sorry, but I don’t really like [name]Tobin[/name] because of the nn [name]Toby[/name]. I really feel it takes a masculine name and turns it feminine. I don’t think any grown man would like to be called [name]Toby[/name].
I love [name]Tobin[/name] nn [name]Toby[/name]! It’s quirky and timeless all at once, I think it’s fabulous. I picture a fun, smart, loveable, loving, slightly geeky little boy, definitely adorable and charming.
I have to disagree with some of the previous posters - in that I think [name]Toby[/name] is a great nickname for a little boy, as well as a grown man. In fact, I have considered naming my son just [name]Toby[/name]. I would probably think more seriously about [name]Tobin[/name] as a way to get to [name]Toby[/name] but I associate it too much with a bridge in my area
[name]Love[/name] it! I knew the cutest little boy name Tobyn (spelled that way). He was only a toddler at the time, but I imagine he has become quite the funny-man based on how he was back then! It’s definitely all boy, [name]IMO[/name]. So is the NN [name]Toby[/name] - which happens to be my uncle’s name (he has no issues with it) and the name of a really handsome character on a tv show I watch
