Toby or Tobias

Hello, which one do you prefer toby or tobias, and why? Also are there any middle names you like with either? Thanks

[name_u]Toby[/name_u] is way cute.

[name_m]Tobias[/name_m] is a YouTuber who likes little girls if you get the drift, so I don’t like that name anymore.

I love [name_u]Toby[/name_u] [name_m]Theodore[/name_m] and [name_u]Toby[/name_u] [name_m]Philip[/name_m] alot!

I defnitly prefer [name_m]Tobias[/name_m]!
You can still use [name_u]Toby[/name_u] as a NN but if he grows up he might like to have a longer and more formal name. [name_f]Imagine[/name_f] he becomes a lawyer or a manager. I would like to have a more formal name then. If he wants he can still use [name_u]Toby[/name_u] with friends and family.

PS: I would not care about the Youtuber. He will probably never be associated with him, since when he is old enough to understand what Youtube even is, this Youtube [name_m]Tobias[/name_m] will be out of sight anyways!

[name_m]Tobias[/name_m] is lovely! My cousin just named her son that (no middle name). He occasionally gets the nn [name_u]Toby[/name_u], which is equally adorable.

I agree with @sparfuchsx3 - about the flexibility of full name [name_m]Tobias[/name_m], and about the YouTuber - don’t even worry!

[name_m]Tobias[/name_m]! I love this name and it would be on my own shortlist except that it really doesn’t work with our last name. You can always use [name_u]Toby[/name_u] as a nickname if you want, but if it were me I would just use [name_m]Tobias[/name_m].

I prefer [name_m]Tobias[/name_m]. It has more weight to it and sounds more masculine than [name_u]Toby[/name_u].

A vote for [name_u]Toby[/name_u]. Depending on your naming community, I guess, but [name_m]Tobias[/name_m] would be obsolete and nicknamed [name_u]Toby[/name_u] where I am. Perhaps you have a more expansive set of names around you. They are both nice.

I always go for short and sweet so [name_u]Toby[/name_u] gets my vote. If you like a longer name and aren’t sold on [name_m]Tobias[/name_m] how about [name_u]Tobin[/name_u] or [name_m]Tobiah[/name_m].

Another vote for [name_u]Toby[/name_u]. I don’t mind [name_m]Tobias[/name_m], but I think [name_u]Toby[/name_u] has a friendlier vibe.

[name_m]Tobias[/name_m] is super handsome, but I’m not a fan of [name_u]Toby[/name_u]. [name_u]Toby[/name_u] always makes me think of the word tubby, which isn’t so nice.

[name_u]Love[/name_u] both names, would definitely go for [name_m]Tobias[/name_m] nn [name_u]Toby[/name_u] because it gives him more choice - he might love the name [name_u]Toby[/name_u] as a child but prefer [name_m]Tobias[/name_m] when he’s older. I think most people will assume [name_u]Toby[/name_u] is a nickname anyway and he can just go by [name_u]Toby[/name_u] all the time if that’s what he wants. Lots of people I know go by their nicknames and people aren’t even aware what their ‘proper’ name is. Giving him the name [name_u]Toby[/name_u] as a full name just feels like cutting off another option for him. Also, [name_m]Tobias[/name_m] is a handsome, dignified name and [name_u]Toby[/name_u] is a more casual and relaxed name so it’s guaranteed to suit him whatever personality he ends up having!
