Toby, Tobey, or Tobie?

New baby will be named Tobias Daniel - but how to spell his nickname? I know Toby is most common but I’m not sure I love how it looks! Meanwhile there is also Tobey, which is less common but I might like it more. And then Tobie is also an even less common choice but is similar to his brother’s nickname…Thoughts?

For reference, his siblings are Ollie and Felicity.

I like [name_u]Tobey[/name_u] because its a mix of the end [name_u]Ollie[/name_u] and [name_f]Felicity[/name_f]. I love the name [name_m]Tobias[/name_m] too so cute.

[name_u]Love[/name_u] [name_u]Tobey[/name_u]!

Oooh I love that you pointed that out!!

I think I prefer simple [name_u]Toby[/name_u] the best (I adore [name_m]Tobias[/name_m] and Toby!). [name_u]Tobey[/name_u] kind of reminds me of “to obey.”

If you choice [name_u]Toby[/name_u] or [name_u]Tobie[/name_u] you may have to spell it out every time

I like [name_u]Toby[/name_u], but you don’t seem to be sold on it so I voted [name_u]Tobie[/name_u] because it’s cute. I don’t think it’s a problem that it’s closer to [name_u]Ollie[/name_u].

Tobias/Toby is so great with [name_f]Felicity[/name_f] and [name_u]Ollie[/name_u]! I also think [name_u]Tobey[/name_u] looks like “obey” and thus throws off the pronunciation. [name_u]Tobie[/name_u] is fine, but I’d just go with the classic [name_u]Toby[/name_u] myself. There’s a line in a song by Kimya [name_u]Dawson[/name_u], “I’ve never met a [name_u]Toby[/name_u] that I didn’t like.” It’s a name with a good energy!

I think [name_u]Toby[/name_u] will prove the easiest, since it’s by far the most common spelling. But I do also like [name_u]Tobey[/name_u]. Good luck!

I’m not a big fan of tobie, but you can’t go wrong with toby and I like tobey thanks to tobey maguire :muscle:

I definitely like [name_u]Toby[/name_u] best. I feel like you will get this spelling most of the time anyways if you don’t tell people how to spell it. There’s also a [name_u]Tobi[/name_u] variation.

[name_u]Toby[/name_u] feels most straightforward

[name_u]Tobi[/name_u] is a good idea—somehow I like that it is just the first 4 letters of [name_m]Tobias[/name_m].
