Todays Blog and some thoughts on the names

So I really enjoyed today’s blog post about hidden animal names, I loved several of them. I love [name]Dov[/name], [name]Merle[/name], [name]Tala[/name], [name]Lonan[/name] and of cource I love [name]Callum[/name]. So here are my thoughts/questions:

[name]Dov[/name] - pronounced like [name]Dove[/name], but means [name]Bear[/name] - would it be weird to have two sons, one named [name]Callum[/name] which mean [name]Dove[/name] and one named [name]Dov[/name] which means bear?
[name]Merle[/name] - Nameberry says “[name]Merle[/name] is even less masculine than [name]Meredith[/name].” Really?! I see [name]Merle[/name] as one of those names that is supremely masculine, maybe because I associate it with [name]Merle[/name] Haggard. What do you Berries think, maculine or feminine? Either way is it still useable?
[name]Tala[/name] - I just love the simple, soft sound of this. A really beautiful name for a girl/woman.
[name]Lonan[/name] - Is [name]Ronan[/name]/[name]Conan[/name]/[name]Lonan[/name] going to become the new [name]Aiden[/name]/[name]Jaiden[/name]/[name]Caiden[/name] type trend?

[name]Dov[/name]- I doubt many people, outside of us berries, would know the meaning of the name. I wouldn’t find it strange but I much prefer [name]Callum[/name] to [name]Dov[/name].
[name]Merle[/name]- This seems very feminine to me. I would totally use it for my daughter. It’s so sleek and French. It’s definitely a hidden gem.
[name]Tala[/name]- This name doesn’t do much for me. It’s like [name]Tara[/name].
[name]Lonan[/name]- I hope it doesn’t become trendy. This name probably won’t get discovered and will often get mistaken for [name]Logan[/name].

I really loved today’s blog post as well! I love just [name]Wolf[/name] but aside from that I liked these-
[name]Callum[/name]
[name]Merle[/name]
[name]Jonah[/name]/[name]Jonas[/name]
[name]Aviana[/name]
[name]Orson[/name]
[name]Destry[/name]

With [name]Phelan[/name] coming in first

[name]Dov[/name] doesn’t sound like the bird dove, it rhymes with cove!

[name]Love[/name] animals names:

[name]Sparrow[/name], [name]Fox[/name], [name]Wolf[/name], [name]Bear[/name], [name]Auberon[/name], [name]Arthur[/name], [name]Raven[/name], [name]Cat[/name] (as a nn) etc!

The blog post says “Sounds like one animal but means another” so I assumed it was pronounced like dove, as in the animal. [name]Do[/name] you know someone with the name and that’s how they pronounce it? I’m just curious because I would never want to use it and pronounce it incorrectly.

[name]Merle[/name] makes me think of [name]Merle[/name] Haggard! I live closer to the [name]Mason[/name] [name]Dixon[/name] line than to the Eiffel [name]Tower[/name]!

spring13 actually speaks Hebrew (judging from her other posts), whereas the author of the blog does not. I’d go with her pronunciation.

[name]Merle[/name] seems more masculine to me, than [name]Meredith[/name].

But I tend to seriously disagree with most of Nameberry’s descriptions.

Thank you [name]Blade[/name] and Spring13, I wasn’t trying to be rude I was honestly curious. Thanks.

Not too long ago there was a thread about [name]Merle[/name] and it seemed split pretty evenly between people who thought it leaned more masculine and those who thought it was more feminine. There’s [name]Merle[/name] Haggard and there’s [name]Merle[/name] (a man) on The Walking Dead, so I’d probably say it leans more toward the masculine, but it might depend on where you live.

I was friends with a girl in high school whose ex-boyfriend was named [name]Dov[/name] (sounding like the bird). I have always loved it but not sure if I would ever be brave enough to use it.
