I’m obsessed with the name [name_m]Theodore[/name_m], but can’t stand [name_u]Theo[/name_u] or Ted and feel weird useing [name_u]Teddy[/name_u] because it was the name of a high school crush. I love [name_m]Todd[/name_m], but would it sound weird on a little boy?
I don’t think [name_m]Todd[/name_m] would sound weird on a little boy, and phonetically as a nn for [name_m]Theodore[/name_m] it’s just as plausible as Ted. That said, in the future there’s a decent possibility others may call him [name_u]Theo[/name_u] or Ted, or that he himself may prefer [name_u]Theo[/name_u] or Ted. So I wouldn’t use it unless you’re prepared for that.
I think [name_m]Todd[/name_m] would work fine for [name_m]Theodore[/name_m]!!
It does work but… I don’t love it. [name_m]Toddy[/name_m] is cute for a baby. I would just use the full name [name_m]Theodore[/name_m].
I actually prefer [name_m]Todd[/name_m] to [name_m]Theodore[/name_m]/[name_u]Theo[/name_u]/Ted/[name_u]Teddy[/name_u] all of those. He will only be little for a little while, and if you really want to call him a nn you could call him an initial nn like TJ or TK., or something random that suits him. But like amberdaydream said, be prepared if you use [name_m]Theodore[/name_m] he might prefer Ted or [name_u]Theo[/name_u] later.
