Help! My husband came home with a new name love this week: [name]Margaux[/name]. I love it too but my name is [name]Morgan[/name]. The spelling makes it look different but when I say them both out loud they sound so similar. [name]Do[/name] you think [name]Margaux[/name] is too close to my own name to use or would you still use it?
I can’t even pronounce [name]Margaux[/name], sorry. I wouldn’t know if it was or not. Is it “mar gox?” or “[name]Mar[/name] gax”??
It’s pronounced just like [name]Margo[/name]/[name]Margot[/name].
- They are both 2 syllables
- They start with the same letter
- They both have a middle “g”
This makes them very similar. But on the other hand, they have different vowel sounds, and this is what makes the biggest impression. I like the soft “o” ending of [name]Margaux[/name]. I do prefer the spellings [name]Margo[/name] or [name]Margot[/name], but I’m not sure how significant the spelling is to your husband.
I feel like the different vowel sounds are enough to make this usable.

I might go with a [name]Margo[/name] spelling if you live in [name]America[/name], other than that it would be too close for me. I might use it as a middle though.
I think it’s usable! They sound different enough and have a different enough style that I wouldnt think it was strange to meet a [name]Morgan[/name] with a daughter named [name]Margaux[/name].
I prefer the [name]Margot[/name] spelling, [name]Margaux[/name] close second, [name]Margo[/name] just looks incomplete to me for some reason. [name]Margot[/name] was on my list, but DH dislikes it, I still love it though. I think it’s a nice balance of refined and strong, recognizable but uncommon.
I think it is usable. 
I prefer the [name]Margaux[/name] spelling. It looks prettier. I could never fully appreciate [name]Margot[/name], because it reminds me of Maggot and [name]Margo[/name] always seemed incomplete to me.

I tink they are nearly completely different and most of her friends will probably call you Margargaux’s mom anyway! I like either spllingI think it’s your child and if you’re uncomfortable with it then say something to your husband about maybe uig it as a middle name and it’s your choice
