These names have all been very much in style for last decade or so, and any kids called these names on your list will be right at home in the classroom,. They’re broadly “turn of century” - late 1800s to early 1900s - names - which are very popular among Millennial parents.

If anything, I think they are even on the second/back half of the trend (not tail end but not the start either). I think we’re staring to see “Boomer” names slowly creeping back in - though the Turn of Century names are also seen as more “classic” so will stay around too. They’re not disappearing!

And I really like these names btw - Edmond / Edmund is a long term fave, and Magdalene is stunning! I prefer straight Sylvie over Sylvia, and Frederick with a K in English speaking contexts.

If it helps, I know kids or teens with all of these names, so I think they work

[name_f]My[/name_f] favourites are [name_m]Hugo[/name_m], [name_m]Arthur[/name_m], [name_m]Oskar[/name_m], [name_m]Frederic[/name_m], [name_f]Sylvia[/name_f], [name_f]Magdalene[/name_f], [name_f]Louisa[/name_f] and [name_f]Penelope[/name_f]

I don’t think they’re too old fashioned at all! [name_f][/name_f] I know kiddos named [name_m]Edmond[/name_m], [name_m]Oskar[/name_m], [name_m]Frederic[/name_m], and [name_m]Hugo[/name_m], and [name_f]Sylvia[/name_f], [name_f]Magdalene[/name_f], and [name_f]Penelope[/name_f] just feel classic to me. [name_f][/name_f] [name_m]Arthur[/name_m], [name_f]Louisa[/name_f], and [name_f]Henrietta[/name_f] are all very well loved on these forums. [name_f][/name_f] I would be happy to meet kiddos with any of these names! [name_f][/name_f] [name_m]Hugo[/name_m], [name_m]Oskar[/name_m], [name_m]Frederic[/name_m], [name_f]Magdalene[/name_f], and [name_f]Sylvia[/name_f] are my favorites, though. Good luck!

Oh I am so glad you like them! So encouraging to hear!

I feel with the current naming trends these names really fit in with the overall trends and feel very fashionable.

Definitely more vintage than old fashioned which is very “in” right now.

There are 2 Louisa’s and 2 Penelope’s at my daughters childcare. All 3 and under. A girl I went to HS with has an [name_m]Arthur[/name_m] under 2. These definitely don’t feel outdated or too old fashioned to me.

These kinds of names are in style, and have been for awhile now! The only name on this list I would be really surprised to hear is [name_f]Henrietta[/name_f] (which I LOVE but hasn’t made a comeback yet, maybe because [name_m]Henry[/name_m] has taken the spotlight). [name_f]Magdalene[/name_f] might surprise me too, but [name_f]Della[/name_f] certainly wouldn’t. [name_f]Every[/name_f] other name on your list I’ve seen and heard used more than once in the last decade! So if you’re worried about them being out of fashion, they’re definitely not.

Personally, I do think they are old fashioned, but I also recognize that it’s a style that is coming back into fashion. Most important is that you like it
