Too weird?

What do you all think about [name_f]Valencia[/name_f]?

Any cute nicknames you can think of for this one? I don’t like [name_u]Val[/name_u] particularly…

Middle names?

We are Caucasian and [name_u]North[/name_u] American. Not that it matters, but does this name sound too “foreign”? It’s a city in Spain.

Thanks!

I like [name_f]Valencia[/name_f]. If you don’t want to use [name_u]Val[/name_u], what about [name_f]Lena[/name_f] as a nickname?

[name_f]Lena[/name_f] is cute! Great idea!

I really like [name_f]Valencia[/name_f], I don’t think it’s too weird, especially now that [name_f]Valentina[/name_f] has shot up into to top 200 - I always though [name_f]Valencia[/name_f] would become popular before [name_f]Valentina[/name_f].

Possible Nicknames - [name_f]Leni[/name_f], [name_m]Len[/name_m], [name_m]Lenci[/name_m], Cici, [name_f]Cia[/name_f], [name_f]Alena[/name_f], [name_f]Lena[/name_f], [name_f]Nia[/name_f], [name_f]Valen[/name_f], Enci, [name_f]Alice[/name_f], Vincey, [name_f]Via[/name_f], [name_f]Lia[/name_f]

Ohhhh I think I like [name_f]Leni[/name_f] the best. That’s adorable. [name_f]Lena[/name_f] still cute though. Thanks for great ideas!

What’s everyone else think of it?

I like it. I met someone with this name once and didn’t bat an eye beyond thinking I’d never seen it used as a name in the real world before. It’s similar enough to [name_f]Valeria[/name_f] that I don’t think of it as a place name first and person name second (even though I know it’s a place name). Madrid or [name_f]Barcelona[/name_f] would be different!

I like [name_f]Leni[/name_f] and [name_f]Lena[/name_f] a lot as its nicknames.

Where I live it is a street in a very heavily populated Hispanic area so that is all I think about. I might think it is weird for a Caucasian family to use it but I do like the [name_f]Leni[/name_f] nickname!

I don’t think it’s that weird at all, I went to HS with one.

[name_f]Lena[/name_f], [name_f]Lia[/name_f], [name_m]Ven[/name_m], Vee, could all be nicknames

I don’t like it personally because it’s a street name on a sketchy part of town where I live, so that’s the only association i have with it. [name_f]Lenna[/name_f] or [name_m]Lenny[/name_m] or CC maybe even [name_f]Ally[/name_f] work as nicknames.

No, I think it’s gorgeous! I’ve never thought the baby’s heritage should be a defining factor, unless there’s a really good reason - like if you’re very Caucasian-American and know absolutely nothing about Hinduism and you’re naming your child [name_f]Shiva[/name_f], for example. But that’s definitely not the case here. [name_f]Leni[/name_f] or [name_f]Lena[/name_f] are both cute for a little girl and practical for a grown woman. I quite like the idea. I don’t think it’s any more outlandish than [name_f]Florence[/name_f] or [name_u]London[/name_u] as a given name.

I like it, and I would probably end up calling her V (Vee) on a regular basis.

I think it’s pretty, and like the nn [name_f]Lena[/name_f]. I don’t think this is a deal-breaker, but just so you know: [name_f]Valencia[/name_f] is the name of a popular filter on Instagram.

[name_f]Valencia[/name_f] is the name of a breed of Oranges in case you weren’t aware. That’s certainly not a bad thing. It just shows what a great name it makes. [name_f]Valencia[/name_f] means Brave, and comes from the Latin [name_f]Valentia[/name_f] meaning valour and strength.

[name_f]Every[/name_f] time I see “[name_f]Valencia[/name_f]” I think about what a pretty name it would be…it has a great sound and just rolls off the tongue, plus its very familiar to people so it doesn’t see too weird. I love the [name_f]Vi[/name_f], [name_f]Lena[/name_f], [name_f]Leni[/name_f], and Cici nicknames.

I love [name_f]Valencia[/name_f], certainly not too weird imo. My only association, other than the city, is the character in Slaughterhouse Five.

I would call her [name_f]Leni[/name_f]! So cute. [name_f]Cece[/name_f] would work too I think.

[name_f]Valencia[/name_f] is pretty. I am not in love but I like the sound of it.

[name_f]Vallie[/name_f]
Vee
[name_f]Vana[/name_f]
[name_f]Lia[/name_f]
[name_u]Lennie[/name_u]

No, I don’t think it’s too weird. I also like [name_f]Valentia[/name_f], which is quite similar and easier to pronounce. Not that I think anyone will have any trouble with [name_f]Valencia[/name_f] once you tell them how to say it - I assume it’s [name_u]Val[/name_u]-EN-chee-a. Or [name_u]VAL[/name_u]-en-chee-a? But I think it’s a lovely name. As for a middle name, I like [name_f]Valencia[/name_f] [name_f]Lilly[/name_f]. Which sounds very elegant to my ears.
The first nickname that occurred to me was [name_u]Lennie[/name_u], if you don’t mind boy-ish names. I have a friend who calls herself [name_u]Lennie[/name_u]. If you want something prettier, I also though of [name_f]Cia[/name_f] (CHEE-a).
[name_f]Hope[/name_f] this helps!

I like it, it was on our list. It’s a bit foreign sounding but idk why that could possibly be a bad thing.
I thing its pronounced Val-EN-see-ah. If we had used it the nns would have been V (‘Vee’) or Cia (like Sia).

The meanings are beautiful, and I find it to be friendly, energetic and cultured - colourful and organic.

I really love [name_f]Valencia[/name_f]! I was especially drawn to the meaning, and have had it as a middle for my former favourite name. But it’s a beautiful, elegant, unusual name, and I think you could get away with it, especially with more well known place names like [name_f]India[/name_f], [name_u]London[/name_u], [name_u]Paris[/name_u] etc. not exactly being unheard of. Definitely not too weird in my opinion. I have [name_f]Valencia[/name_f] [name_f]Amara[/name_f] [name_f]Fae[/name_f] (meaning Strong [name_u]Forever[/name_u] [name_f]Lovely[/name_f]/Graceful Faerie) on my list, and I like [name_f]Cia[/name_f], or [name_f]Ena[/name_f]/[name_f]Enna[/name_f] (said Enn-ə) as possible nns.

I love [name_f]Valencia[/name_f]. I would use [name_f]Leni[/name_f] or [name_f]Cia[/name_f] as a nickname.
