[name_f]Olive[/name_f] is my favourite but I also love [name_u]Marlowe[/name_u]! And I really like [name_f]Ada[/name_f], [name_f]Alma[/name_f] and [name_f]Liv[/name_f] and think [name_u]Charlie[/name_u] is a lovely nickname for a girl (or boy). The only name I dislike is [name_f]Thelma[/name_f]. Nice choices! [name_f]Olive[/name_f] has been a contender for our DD and my friend has a gorgeous little [name_u]Marlowe[/name_u]
I voted for [name_f]Liv[/name_f], but I also like [name_f]Ada[/name_f] and [name_f]Esme[/name_f].
As for a nickname for [name_f]Thelma[/name_f], I feel like it is a bit of a stretch to use [name_f]Emme[/name_f]/[name_f]Emma[/name_f]; if you were to use it I’d be inclined to make it her full name rather than a nickname for [name_f]Thelma[/name_f]. Anything’s possible, though!
I also love @katinka’s suggestion of [name_f]Theda[/name_f].
[name_f]Ada[/name_f] is my favourite - she’s short and simple, but has a load of strength and a nice vintage feel. I only like it so much when pronounced AY-duh, though.
My least favourite is [name_f]Thelma[/name_f] – I’m sorry, but yeah, I do find it very heavy, clunky and dated.
I don’t like [name_u]Charlie[/name_u] or [name_f]Thelma[/name_f], and neither are as sweet and pretty as your other options. On the fence about [name_u]Marlowe[/name_u]. [name_u]Love[/name_u] everything else!
Thank you for your help!
I think [name_f]Theda[/name_f] sounds beautiful in English, but it sounds harsh in [name_m]French[/name_m]. I will still suggest it to my husband, maybe I will get used to its [name_m]French[/name_m] pronounciation.
I love [name_f]Alma[/name_f] and [name_f]Esme[/name_f]!
As for [name_f]Thelma[/name_f], I agree with your husband. I also think [name_f]Emma[/name_f]/[name_f]Emme[/name_f] are too far of a stretch as nicknames
