Surprised and delighted to see [name_f]Esme[/name_f] (oh, I love this name), [name_f]Heidi[/name_f], [name_u]Mirren[/name_u], [name_f]Emilia[/name_f], [name_f]Iona[/name_f] (!), [name_f]Zara[/name_f] (!), [name_f]Orla[/name_f], and [name_f]Poppy[/name_f]. There were also a preponderance of variants: [name_f]Beth[/name_f] and [name_f]Bethany[/name_f], [name_f]Rose[/name_f] and [name_f]Rosie[/name_f], [name_f]Eve[/name_f] and [name_f]Evie[/name_f] and [name_f]Eva[/name_f], [name_f]Grace[/name_f] and [name_f]Gracie[/name_f]. And so many names that are considered outdated in [name_u]America[/name_u]: [name_f]Jessica[/name_f], [name_f]Maria[/name_f], [name_f]Rose[/name_f], [name_f]Beth[/name_f]. A lovely, lovely list.

But [name_f]Robyn[/name_f]? Seriously?

@augusta-lee - [name_f]Robyn[/name_f] has actually been relatively popular here for about the last 20 or so years I’d say so it doesn’t seem trendy or strange. The [name_f]Robyn[/name_f] spelling for girls is more popular than [name_u]Robin[/name_u] which is more often used for boys.

I’m from [name_f]Scotland[/name_f] and I had no idea [name_f]Robyn[/name_f] was in the top 100, I didn’t even know it was popular here. I only know one [name_f]Robyn[/name_f] who is about 17 and a boy [name_u]Robin[/name_u] who is 20. I like a lot of the names on this list and prefer it to the American list which has a lot of trendy spellings.

I really like,

[name_f]Sophie[/name_f]
[name_f]Isla[/name_f]
[name_f]Ella[/name_f]
[name_f]Eva[/name_f]
[name_f]Erin[/name_f]
[name_f]Charlotte[/name_f]
[name_f]Eilidh[/name_f]
[name_u]Ruby[/name_u]
[name_f]Holly[/name_f]
[name_f]Orla[/name_f]
[name_f]Maisie[/name_f]
[name_f]Isabella[/name_f]
[name_f]Megan[/name_f]
[name_f]Lola[/name_f]
[name_f]Caitlin[/name_f] (my name)
[name_f]Eve[/name_f]

[name_f]Willow[/name_f]
[name_f]Elise[/name_f]
[name_f]Emilia[/name_f]

*On my own list.

@opheliaflora - It’s funny how names seem surprising in one place but not another. [name_f]Eve[/name_f] variants in general are very popular in [name_f]Scotland[/name_f] at the moment - [name_f]Ava[/name_f], [name_f]Evie[/name_f], [name_f]Eve[/name_f] etc. so [name_f]Eva[/name_f] just fits in. [name_f]Erin[/name_f] and [name_f]Amy[/name_f] have both been popular here for at least 20 years, [name_f]Amy[/name_f] in particular seems classic to me.
I am a bit surprised by [name_f]Heidi[/name_f] though, I’ve only ever me two Heidis - one who’s in her 20s and one in her 30s - I’d never have guessed it was popular for babies.

I live in Scotland (but I’m not Scottish, moved here for university and never left) and I’m quite surprise to see some up there! I’m kind of glad I didn’t go for Heidi for my daughter now.

My favourite of the list is definitely Orla! So pretty!

I also like:
Phoebe
Iona - although I’m not surprised, I know lots of people my age called this.
Abigail
Zara
Esme
Maria
Elise
Freya
Brooke

There aren’t any names that I particularly dislike or hate but I really don’t think Robyn deserves to be a top 100 (I feel bad saying that as my cousin named her daughter that seven years ago).

However, Eilidh is no surprise! I know so many, I’m surprised it’s not higher up on the list. I can remember when I was at university years ago and there always being a few Eilidh’s. Such a pretty name!

[name_f]Jessica[/name_f] (daughter 1’s name)
[name_f]Amelia[/name_f] - loved this but hate the thought of [name_u]Mel[/name_u] being nn
[name_f]Mia[/name_f] - this is on our list for baby who is due in 31days
[name_f]Freya[/name_f] - had this on list for daughter 2 but its so popular
[name_f]Charlotte[/name_f] - we had this recently but don’t like [name_u]Charlie[/name_u] as a nn
[name_f]Eilidh[/name_f] - LOVED this when pregnant with daughter 1 and this is on list for daughter 2 and secretly my favourite name
[name_u]Ruby[/name_u] - had this at beginning of pregnancy, like it but not enough to use
[name_f]Hannah[/name_f] - another name I absolutely love but already a [name_f]Hannah[/name_f] in hubbys family
[name_u]Lexi[/name_u] - loved this but hubby not so keen
[name_f]Orla[/name_f] - another pretty name
[name_f]Layla[/name_f] - also on list until recently but so popular
[name_f]Leah[/name_f] - really like [name_f]Leah[/name_f] and is on list for daughter
[name_f]Sienna[/name_f] - I liked this, hubby didn’t
[name_f]Sofia[/name_f] - loved it until [name_f]Sofia[/name_f] the first spoilt it for me
[name_f]Mila[/name_f] - liked it, hubby didn’t
[name_f]Paige[/name_f] - another one, hubby disliked
[name_u]Mirren[/name_u] - not a fan much prefer the scottish Murron/Murren which are top 500
[name_f]Phoebe[/name_f] - hubby disliked, I liked it
[name_f]Aria[/name_f] - hubbys favourite name at the moment and I have a soft spot for it

Have I been totally mistaken in thinking [name_f]Fiona[/name_f] is a popular Scottish name?? Maybe not as popular as I thought…

I just checked the top 500 Scottish names for 2013 and [name_f]Fiona[/name_f] comes in at #267 and only 15 were named it

So many fantastic ones!

@emsky - [name_f]Fiona[/name_f] is a name that has always been reasonably popular but never super popular - it has probably been on the top 100 in the past. In a way it is very popular but not for a single age group, I know about 10 Fionas - all of different ages.
